Maybe Panther+ does not count as a "modern pad" (straight line for you guys selling a competitor...) but in my experience they do outgas significantly -- once. The first time they get up to temp. After that, no further issues.

what happens under break-in isn't a reason tho to run drilled rotors all the time. You aren't expecting max performance on an non bedded pad.

When you're bedding a pad all sorts of stuff is happening, I was speaking from a standpoint of once a pad gets into its "use" cycle.

Agreed, I just thought some clarification was in order.

great detailed post cthree, seems to sum things up pretty well

the cracks I have are only 2-3 mm radiating away from some of the drill holes

Q: should I change them asap or carry on tracking ?
an aquaintance assured me that porsche owners have similar occurences when tracking, but keep on using them

Without seeing them there is no way I will answer that question, sorry.

For me I always try to err on the side of caution; if it were me I would be at the Hondaa dealer picking up some OEM rotors before the next track event, but that is just me...

Good luck, stay safe.

Take a spare set to the track with you and inspect them after each session. If the cracks develop further you can swap them out before they break. Remember you can only see one of 4 surfaces so there is always the chance that what you can't see is worse. You should always carry a spare front rotor to the track and routinely inspect the rotors between sessions regardless.

guys I know this sounds dumb, but how do I paste images into these posts ?

I have a couple of small jpeg images of the cracks I'd like to share

and cthree you're right I'll take a spare set of rotors (I have a pair of powerslots)

but do I have to junk the almost new panther+ pads when I change ?

regards

1) push the "IMG" button
2) copy/paste the image link there
