I ran 245-40-17 on the front and 255-40-17 on the rear on stock ap2 wheels last year for autox.
It is a very different car without a front sway bar.......I spun out all of my first 5 runs after making the switch as the front allowed me to go faster but then I got to that sweet spot where it spun me out. The next week I had a sway bar and it was much more tame and "normal" feeling.
For daily driving it wont matter.

Yea i actually only started to track my car last year, tracks that i probably will visit often are shannonville, cayuga and mosport most likely. I don't think i have the skills to push my car close to its limit and i think 225/255 will be a safer setup for me. Only thing is i want to get a gt wing for track/aesthetic purposes, so im worried the car's front and rear grip wont balance. I do plan on getting some front aero (splitter and canards) to balance the wing but im not sure will this work well with a staggered setup.
You don't need a wing. Find the cars current limits first before you try to increase them.
That's definitely one option im thinking of haha. But i do think once i feel that i have a solid grasp of my car's limits, i will get a wing. So lets say if i stick with my current rims and have 225/255 setup (because i love my ssr type Cs lol) and get a wing, will a front splitter be enough to balance the grip?

It would work but your front tires will always overheat more quickly than the rears, and you will still be lacking in front grip. Until you are at the point where you are overheating the fronts on a regular basis I wouldn't move to a square setup. Learn to control high speed oversteer before you try to tame it.

You definitely don't want to run 245s on a 7.5" rim. The front end and steering will feel very numb, and the car will be much more prone to snapping because of the deflection of the front tires vs. the rears. The extra heat capacity wouldn't be worth the other compromises in my opinion.

Wow thanks for all the help guys. I think i'm probably going to go with 225/255 w/o any aero and just improve as a driver first

Stick to the staggered setup for now. Go square with rubber when your wheels are also square, and when you have a stiffer FSB ready to install. Careful at Mosport.... not a place to f**k around. There have been a number of S2000's lost around there so far.

So ya, going with what some of the others said, get used to the 225/255 and learn. Step up to non-stager later.

Hope to see you on track soon!
