i see that a gt wing is working well with the S2000s running non staggered setups. im wondering if the guys running a staggered setup are also using GT wing. will it cause too much understeer with an amuse bumper upfront (no splitter, only the underbody tray)

i have a KW v3 coilovers tuned for my stagger and power(359whp supercharged), and the car's balance is good imo. im just wondering if i use a gt wing will it yield better laptimes or not for my setup. right now i only have the mugen SS wing. is it functional at all?

come on guys, i was just wondering what wings are you running with your staggered setups.and your feedback on it. am i asking too much? i did search and i read all the threads fron the FAQ.

 

I believe there is a whole thread on the most effective/successful wings for the s2000, just keep searching. If you get more of an understeer balance with the wing, you can try other options to help fix the balance. Or, you can just invest a bit more money and go with larger tires/non staggered in the front. With the right setup, the car will be faster at most any track with a GT Wing (true for basically all cars.) But I am not the right guy to listen to - despite my track experience I have never tracked my s2000.

My advice: Buy the proven, popular wing and go no staggered.

 

im afraid to go non staggered because im not N/A anymore. with 359whp is it still better for me to go non staggered? the car gets a bit tail happy already at corner exit on the slower corners. but its controlable.

You can still go non staggered with that hp. You just need to make sure you set up your suspension and alignment to balance the car. Even with NA cars you need to have a correct setup, otherwise the car will be tail happy.

Get a stiffer front sway bar. This will essentially work the same as increasing your front spring rates which will help keep the rear in line. You can also set an understeer inducing alignment. On the rear dial in ~3/16 in. toe In. 0 toe up front. Run more negative camber in the rear than the front.

Other than that, dial in your compression/rebound settings if you have coilovers that have independent adjustments. Again you can run a stiffer rebound setting up front to help keep the rear settled. You could also pick up that wing you want just make sure it's functional. I recommend Voltex.

Once you get it dialed in, you will be glad you went non-staggered.

 

thank you so much for your response. i think ill do it in the future. so, ill postpone the GT wing until i do the non staggered setup, im leaning toward the J's type one wing, from which voltex wing is it derived?

one more question, is it true that the volk wheels that come with 9" width are actually narrower than 9"? or is it just the CE28?

 

I'm not sure about the CE28's.

I believe Voltex manufactures wings for J's. You may be able to pick up a Voltex for cheaper since there is no markup.
