My RA-1s are just starting to show some wear and I have 4 track days on them so far. I'm not sure that I would want to wait 2-3 laps before the tires get up to temp. I kinda like that I can start going relatively fast after half a lap with the RA-1s.

The car feels really, really, good, especially on Dunlops.

At OTC on the 17" slicks on Volk CE-28N's the car "felt" better than on the 18's- transitioned better, accelerated better, and just felt generally lighter on its feet. But was it ultimately faster? Hard to say without some scientific testing...

Bryan, any time you spend out of VTEC in the S2000 may as well be spent in a Civic. If you were at 53mph past the apex, it means you were probably going even slower before it, revs even lower. Not sure what the 50-60mph (5-6k rpm) times are in 3rd gear, but I can guarantee it's at least a second or two more than in 2nd.

Speaking of tire wear:

I got my RA1's shaved to 4/32nds. I drove them on the street and did over 10 trackdays with them. All in all, I put about 13,000 miles on them.

They still have a couple of track events left in them. I don't know why they are not wearing. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen in my life.

Rev, if you like a tire that comes in quick, take a look at the Victoracers. They need about 3 turns to come in.

BTW, I don't know if I would go as far as saying the PSC's are the 'best' tire. I think they have the most amount of grip and are perhaps the most consistent. But, they don't like to be tossed around like the RA1's. I think the Toyos are indestructible.

Why is this thread so dam long????????

This past weekend was the 5th and 6th track day for 3 of the tires and the 1st and 2nd for one of the rears (shaved and heat-cycled to try to match the other three as well as possible). Plus they all had about a 1000 street miles.

IMHO Rev,

From my experience of the PSC I would probably go against them for track time. They don't communicate very well when they are going to break away. I liked them fine for a grippy street tire, but on the track I think I would be more cautious.

dave,

Do you really notice a big difference in high speed turns like turn 8 or Riverside when you are on 18's??

I'm curious to see how the car felt differently betw. 17's and 18's. I just stepped up from 16's to 17's. I'm considering also one set in 18's.

Does the car feel more predictable, or is it just a little more grip?
