Not that it really matters, but I have a FIPK that I got used but in excellent condition. I cannot get the base of the intake to seal against the edge of the heavy box. There is that cheesy/ flimsy silver colored adjuster that doesn't seem to want to hold firmly enough to prevent the 1/4" to 1/2" gap between the rubber back of the and the metal. See pic:

I think that gap is intentional as I have seen it on other's as well as my own.

Mine seems to have corrosion/small holes at the corner edges on the box. Either this or the gap you have shouldn't affect the function, since the box is just designed to deflect heat from directly hitting the filter right?

Cool. I mean, it's of course hardly a sealed intake, but I just assumed that such a gap on the heat side of the intake was an error on my part. Well I guess Bill Gendron found the void in S2000 adjustable rear sways. Maybe someone can work on getting us some 17x9 wheels that are less than 17 lbs for a reasonable price, a true[r] cold air intake, and perhaps some other things that STR glaringly lacks from manufacturers for the S...

Thanks guys.

Prior to switching to the K&N fipk, I had a AEM V1 CAI. It wasn't STR legal as the inner fender liner had to be cut slightly to make it fit.

I have no dyno data to support this, but butt dyno said the k&n had better throttle response. Not to mention is sounds pretty awesome. I do have the GP fab heat shield also.
