The Phun formula assumes the endlink is fully vertical, but we know that this is not true for all settings. So your calculations are probably high, at least at the stiffer settings.
If I get what you are saying then:
The lower, posted rates are taking into account the non verticle endlink position and are therefore lower. My question would then be how were those rates arrived at?

I guess, more to the point, the question is:
For someone thats used a number of bars such as the Gendron, Karcepts, Ankeny which have rates indicated by the manufacturer. Have you found that the rates for them are reliable/uniform from on brand to another.

In other words did the Saner set to 556 lbs/in work and feel like the other brands set to the same rate?

This might be a tall order but has someone done it?

I realize that this thread is pretty ancient & the S2000 is no longer a top dog in STR. However I've been doing some research on the MX5 front bar in the rear of our cars and wanted to share. This should be helpful for anyone considering a proper RSB like the karcepts.

The number I saw for the MX5 bar is 130 lbs/in. This was probably listed as the wheel rate of the bar, and it is incorrect to compare this to 400 lb/in for '02 AP1 or 311 for AP2. A true 130 lbs/in sway bar is pretty flimsy, and the MX5 bar wasn't as weak as i expected. this was my clue to look into this. Anyway here are the rates I found.

MX5 soft top bar: 267 lbs/in (this number is from Rob Robinette's calculation and assumed to be true)
MX5 retractable hard top bar: 311 lbs/in (used Rob Robinette's calculator. Assumed that the only difference is the overall diameter of the bar, 22 instead of 21mm. There are threads on miata.net supporting this)

So the hardtop MX5 bar is pretty much identical to the AP2 rear bar, and the MX5 soft top bar is 18% softer than that.
