actually this is false.
YOU have to roll the tabs for extreme low ride height. I do not, because i run the chili bowl / whinnie upper control arm setup.
if you have moved your upper control arm in, you do not have to modify your fenders.
if you have moved your lower arm out, you do have to modify your fenders

I just got my Continental ExtremeContact DW for my rain tires. I chose to go with the 205F/225R with my stocker AP1 16's. In this particular case, I was thinking that wider isn't necessarily better, plus I get to use an existing set of wheels that were just laying around.

What are others doing size wise with this tire?

I was on the fence about it so I went with 235/45/17 on some tirerack 17x9 wheels in case I needed another set of STR wheels.

Do you guys DD/put on street miles on your Star Specs that you compete on? What about long drives to events that are several hours away? Will this heat cycle the tires' grip level out before the tread fully wears down?

I try not to drive my "National" set of tires on the street. When you drive them on the street, you are putting wear, tear and heat cycles on them. To what extent? I'm not sure. I developed a habit of cleanig my tires after each event with a large wire brush and scraping off OPR from when I ran Hoosiers. My Dunlops brought home OPR from the Dixie tour, so it seems even street tire need some maintenance. It's not as bad as the A6s. I'm sure driving them on the street would do most the cleaning for you.

Imran, I drive mine on the street although I change tires if there are long periods without events. It obviously wears them out but I don't think it heat cycles them any quicker, at least for the hankooks. It's hard to tell if it slightly does, but it definitely doesn't in any very significant fashion.

I daily drive my Dunlops that I compete on. The Dunlops I ran at Nats were daily driven and driven to the event from New Orleans. They got me .051 from the win. I would suspect that they are not heat cycling out.

I also daily drive on my Dunlops. The Hankooks I don't because I don't think they would be all that safe for the cooler mornings we have in Wisconsin a lot of the time. If I determine the Dunlops are my tire for large events this year I might just get ride of the Hankooks and buy a set of Dunlops just to race on.

Not to mention that if you had done what barbato was talking about you would have won the national championship by 5 seconds or something?
