Default STR weights for different generations

So I'm hoping to get a better comparison of race weights prepared for STR. I know some of this is buried in the STR thread but it's hard to find. So for anyone that's weighed their car, please list:

-S2000 model year and trim
-Mods that affect weight
-Actual weight

I'm particularly interested in comparing the 02-03 to the other years since it confuses me that the curb weight is 80 lbs more for this compared to the 00-01. I'm wondering if that's actually the weight difference between the two. But I also think it would be interesting to see a list of all year ranges and an idea of what weight should be.

You will need to get a bunch of models together same day same scales for accuracy, otherwise your guessing. Scales can vary quite a bit. For example, my S2000 has seen weights from approx mid 2600s to over 2800 without any changes, just different scales and different events. In BS trim, all S2000s will be within 100lbs counting a full tank of gas. With the same lightweight mods (minus wheels/tires, plastic window, and CR stuff) i bet its more like 50lbs. I tried to get a few models together at the Dixie Tour this year to compare. I have forgotten the #s, but an '01 AP1, AP2s, and CRs were all within 80lbs+-. If I were to do this again, I would try and get a bunch of STR/BS/etc people on the scales at a Tour (or similar) and note the mods.

hmmm...good point, thanks for that.

One thing I'm specifically really curious about is later AP1 vs. earlier AP1. Curb weight differs by 80 lbs which can't be right. Has anyone weighed an 02-03 vs. another s2000 on the same scales on the same day?

What is the weight differences besides the heavier rear window, different springs and sway bars? Everything else should be a wash??? I certainly do not see 80lbs. Most the weight differences on the AP2 is with the bigger wheels/tires, and most of the little differences are canceled out in STR other that what was previously mentioned. I would love to see a sub 2600lb S2000 out there! (counting a full tank)

The only other differences besides windows springs and sways would be interior trim pieces to my knowledge. Like the center console and the better speakers for the radio etc.

Altogether that "might" add up to 80lbs but I kinda doubt it

B Stock weights, originally from this thread, now with model years because I'm a nice guy:

Code:

2000 120 Fagundes / Elder 2692 JDM wheels, Mugen exhaust, Comptech bar, Bilstein shocks
2001 191 Lamont / Wynveen 2697 JDM wheels, Veilside Ti exhaust
2000 96 Goeke 2709 JDM wheels, Mugen exhaust, custom bar, Koni shocks

2002 169 Pettus / Hale 2713 Stock wheels, exhaust, Moton shocks
2000 71 Pearson 2719
2001 198 Morrow / Yom / Hui 2723 JDM wheels, Mugen exhaust, Saner bar, JRZ shocks, Gendron hitch
2004 129 McCombs / McCombs 2725 '04 S2000, stock wheels, Mugen exhaust, Comptech bar, Penske shocks, 3/8 gas

2000 189 Sucsy / Nguyen 2748 Stock wheels, stock exhaust, custom bar, Koni shocks, 1/2 gas
2000 83 Lee 2752
2000 82 Neely 2753 Stock wheels, Mugen exhaust
2001 181 Conners / Aidelbaum 2756
2002 11 Chrt 2759
2003 167 Lind / Kiegsen 2761 Stock wheels, stock exhaust
2001 164 Brown / Bjerkaas 2766 Stock wheels, stock exhaust
2000 154 Austin / Wood 2775 "Completely stock except for a Saner bar and a full tank of gas"
2001 161 Zacharias / Hartwig 2790 Stock wheels, exhaust
2001 77 Ivers 2817 Dead body in trunk
There aren't many '02 - '03 cars in this sample, but the data doesn't suggest they're meaningfully heavier than the '00 - '01 ones. The lightest '02 is 31 pounds heavier than the lightest '00 despite having stock wheels, which are roughly 18 pounds heavier than the JDM ones. Likewise, the heaviest '03 is in the middle of a group of similarly prepared '00 - '01 cars.

Wow, you are a nice guy. Thanks! That's hugely helpful.

So that kinda confirms my theory that it's maybe a little heavier, maybe 10 or 20 lbs, but definitely not 80.

Also, is a dead body stock? I thought that would put you in at least SSM?
