Rolls Royce Merlin V12 in a P51 Mustang sounds the best.

Straight pipe install tomorrow.

OK as promised here is the vid at the dyno and some pics. Car made 210.6 whp and 145.1 wtq without the Stock mufflers and 206.0whp and 143.5wtq with the OE cans attached. This was on a Dyno Dynamics dyno, which I am told reads about 10-15% lower than a Dynojet. Anyway, it made power and dropped weight, which were my main concerns.

FYI from a sound perspective, realize the camera was about 50ft from the car, it is a bit louder than the vid makes it seem.

Late to the thread.

I did the same think you did w/ my hks exhaust 4+ years ago. Cheap mod to save weight and no it won't lose hp (as you've already seen).

Midas fabricated mine. It doesn't look near as good as the one pictured. Nice work!
Will be trying not to wake up the neighbors tomorrow morning.
It's track time!

Were the gains throughout the RPM range?

No - the plots were basically the same(or within the noise of the separate dyno runs at least, no more than 1 hp difference at any point) up until 6200, then the gap grew as the rpms grew.

Hey, I found a cheap muffler at Auto Zone. It is small, light weight and really works well. I'm going to fashion another coupler to put the muffler in for drives to and from the track. At the track I'll pull it off.
Will send pics once the work is done. This mod was CHEAP!
