Which Street/Track OFFSET: +54 vs +40 ?

The main difference that I can see is that a lower offset would help you clear more BBKs...I remember reading that 17x9 +54 ce28ns clear spoon calipers, but I have not seen any info on 17x9 +54 RE30s being able to clear them. etc etc..
i believe a 3mm spacer was needed to clear spoon calipers with 17x9 +54 front

Any rear wheel drive car will cause rear tires to wear at a greater rate because they have two tasks rather than one, same as a ff.

what's the second task?

Yes we are talking about tracking/road racing not autoX.
Dino,
Thanks for your input. Good points to consider.
I would like to know:
What setup you are running currently?
What setups you have run in the past ?
What did you notice initially when going to the nonstaggered setup? Some have said its feels a bit unstable at first?
How long have you been tracking your S?
Thanks
Mark

I want to know what the rear tires second task is too!!
Antonov... whats your rear caster??
Seriously, I dont see how you guys wear out your rears faster than fronts on the track.
My 225-245 street tires - the rears wear out twice as fast as the fronts.
My 255-255 RA1s wear the fronts MUCH faster that the rears. Thats with camber to compensate for the track.

I never said I my fronts wear faster.
Lateral Force. On a side note, Paul Haney wrote a great book on racing and performance tires. Its a quick read, and has great intro info on tires and suspension geometry, and how they go hand in hand.
