Should have probably put the tape on the outside of the air box to reflect heat away...

I have contemplated about attempting to wrap the stock arm and airbox. Not sure if i can justify the cost for benefit. Also im sure it would be a

IMO if you need more cooling help 1st go to a bigger radiator, that in itself should do the trick. Then higher flowing fans, and or a oil cooler. Not saying the foil does not work but as noted it only works on one type of heat and it's effects are probably minor compared to a larger radiator. You can also vent the hood.

If you are not boosted you really should not need any of these mods.

His goal does not line up with getting a better radiator. If the coolant temp is not getting running hot, a bigger radiator will have no effect and will still have to deal with the same amount of heat that ultimately finds its way into the engine bay (and to the filter/intake pipe/etc).

An oil cooler does not address intake temps either, however, it can offload some of the cooling needed by the radiator.

Venting the hood could definitely pose a solution.

From his post the only real goal I can see is to use gold foil to make his engine bay look cool. If you want your engine to run cooler do what I said, oh and get an new lower temp thermostat too.

This I do not get: One of the main things he noticed was his VTEC crossover wont go higher anymore ( VTEC would be at 7k-7200 after hard sessions at the track).

Whatever it is I do not think gold tape will help. Taking more heat out the engine with a bigger radiator and oil cooler will help the engine run cooler than it is far better than gold tape.

There is no need to get a lower thermostat and if the current radiator is already doing the job, more heat will not be extracted. Given the current foil tape is focused around the intake and that he's looking for differences in heat soak, a radiator and oil cooler will not aid here.

Oil cooler is always a good idea on a tracked car. I agree, most of the other places he listed are worthless considering that is where the heat is already contained.

Hi. I think if u want to cut heat soak of engine, the most effective way is to duct the radiator. Have done it, ultra effective
