This is the best I have for the front....down through the dash and straight down...probably 8" from the firewall.....

Let me ask you a rhetorical question...what do you think a flimsy piece of tin is going to buy you in torsional rigidity that the cage won't?

As an aside and I can't really tell from the pics but those look like some pretty crude welds. Are they up to the job?

No paint missing on passenger side. There is paint missing on driver's side, but it really looks like door-into-wall sort of damage

As I said, I can't see the things other than from a distance in a picture. The design of the cage looks solid but if it were me I'd probably work with someone else.
