Default too early for track day/performance driving school?

will it be too early to track a car or put her through performance driving school when the car has too little milage on it?

my car only has 1300miles on the clock.
she still haven't got the first oil change yet ...

is it too early for track day or performance driving school?
should i wait longer? until she is more broken-in (is there such a thing)?

i heard people keep saying the car is not fully broken in yet until something like 10k or 15k miles.

I had less than 1000 miles when I took the Russell Racing High Performance Driving class at Sears Point.

About a third of the miles on my car are track or AutoX and I have roughly 13,000 miles on it.

I think you're OK if you're past the break-in period.

Remember, engine break-in is not a discrete event - it continues to occur for up to the first 10k miles or even more. However, the majority of break-in generally occurs in the first few thousand miles. In my case, I waited until I had about 5k miles on the car to push it hard.

So Jerry, you have 400 track miles (Laguna Seca), right? That leaves 3900 AutoX miles... Damn, that's a lot of cone-dodging! You must be an AutoX god by now!

Tough question. Thinking about how I drive on the track right now I'd never take a new car with less than 5000 miles on it out there. However, when I first started tracking I was a lot easier on the car. I'd say it depends on how gently you drive. The engine is not as strong as it will be at 5K miles but shouldn't do any real harm.
