Samlee888, your '08 STi is one of my favorite GRs on IWSTi. Good luck w/ your part out. I have an STi also, but I dont track it b/c of the high costs. Switching out the bearings after 3 track days gets old fast! Not to mention, tracking an s2k is a far more rewarding experience compared to an AWD car.
Thanks man! I appreciate that a lot. I think AWD Turbo are fun in its own way, but you're right, those costs add up fast. What really bothered me was how when my car skipped timing, it just shut off out of nowhere.

I wasn't even driving the car at the time. I let my buddy drive for me in EVO vs STI since he has like 10x more seat time. Anyway if the car shut down going over lost hills instead of the buttonhook, he could've been seriously injured or worst.

Made me think a bit...

The 08's were known for engine issues. Really the best STI's were the 05's and it was downhill from there. I just think subaru stopped caring about their "hot hatch". 08/09 suspensions are better and you can fit fat tires but, the engine's have been problematic. Particularly the stock tune.

Well the worst part is, I'm not even on the stock tune and my motor isn't stock. I have a blueprinted shortblock assembly from Cosworth with a very conservative tune, peak boost only 20psi. On a GT30R I was only making 350whp to keep everything nice and safe.

Still managed to find trouble! I can't wait to get into an S2000. I've already sourced a lot of stock parts and it'll be a fire sale as soon as the aftermarket comes off.

For you to jump timing, I'd call it an assembly problem. The belt guides weren't set right or something like that (or someone missed a shift). Guy, I run at the track with, had a built motor too. Spent, 10-12K on it, Cosworth and all that. It lasted 2 track days before he got a rod knock. I see WRX and STI motors go bad every other track day in the newb groups. You're chatting with them and you notice the coolant recovery tanks are overflowing so, you know their head gaskets are leaking. My stock STI motor's had a solid year of tracking but, the mis-fire counts on cylinder #4 are higher than all the rest of the pistons combined. Only 50K miles, stock boost and power. Engine probably needs to come out and get freshened. I just wasn't feeling it any more. Maybe, I'll let my kid track it.

On the other hand, my friends Honda's been running rock solid for 4 years now on track regularly turning 8500 RPM's and doesn't use a drop of oil.

For sure it wasn't a mis shift. I don't have enough expertise to comment on anything else. In any case, I'll be getting rid of it all and be joining the rock solid Honda camp.

Dont you have RSGs on the GR? Are you transferring that over to the s2k?

Acura CL calipers are a simple bolt on and give you about 1/3rd more pad surface. It's like an LGT brake upgrade for the WRX but, for Hondas.
any link to this. thanks !!

Fits under AP2 wheels. Not sure about AP1.

I ordered a set after seeing this. Trying to find a thicker rotor now too. I have a line on one. Should be here Wednesday.

Yeap I do have the ASM RS-Gs. I'll most likely be moving them over to the S2K.
