^ I don't see any reason why they wouldn't, at worst it'd be a bumper trim kinda thing (on the part you can't see)
On a totally unrelated note, when I did my shocks last weekend, I noticed that the rear reinforcement bar on the rear shock towers also bolts to the trunk floor in 3 places. I think this is new for the 04.
I had a shop here in LA make a custom hitch which was welded to the tub. The total weight of the parts permanently affixed was 8lbs. All I had to do was stick the ball and whatever it's called in the receiver. voila.
I have a trailer for sale, btw with tire holding attachments.
Update: I did get the Hammerly hitch and I am extremely pleased with it. Harold was great to deal with, installation was easy-nothing is attached to sheet metal for support, and it is built solidly. Sure is nice to have the extra room a trailer gives you for chairs, jack, etc.
I've had my Gendron hitch for about 6 months, and towed my tire trailer about 2000 miles.
Last weekend after towing to a local event, I noticed that there were cracks in the trunk sheet metal where the forward attachment point is mounted.
Reviving this unofficial "everything s2ki.com knows about trailer hitches" thread to provide a second Gendron-tearing-holes-in-your-trunk data point:
This is after a year and a half and at most two thousand miles of towing. It's hard to see because of the angle from which I took the pics, but the cracks were wide enough to see daylight through once the trunk liner was removed -- maybe an eighth of an inch across.
From the pictures, it appears that the hitch was pulling down on the trunk floor. Is this correct? I added an aluminum plate inside the trunk when I installed my Gendron hitch. I'm just curious if I added support to the right side of the trunk floor.
