No, that entire 'T' shaped hitch that you see in the picture is removable. The parts that remain in the car aren't visible.

FYI Gus,
Mine fits fine now that I have an Invidia, it's also a plus to be able to slide silencers in and out now.

And Kudos on a fantastic trailer hitch!!
