Twitchy?
I recently attended an evolution driving school. Two of the three instructors who drove my car used the word "twitchy" to describe the handling. Is this a commonly known fact, or am I missing something here. The only suspension mod I have is a muz cross brace. I don't think of my car as "twitchy", but I'm not always driving at the limit like at the school! Here is a link with just a few pics. It was nice meeting CoralDoc out there in the killer miata!

I can't be certain but the word twitchy IMO can also be used to describe the S2000's incredible sensitivity to driver input. On the streets, the car is fun and it likes to rotate. Push it hard during autocross and the back end starts to get a bit loose, but your MY02 should be a lot less "snappier" when the oversteering condition happens. For a first timer experiencing the physical feedback of an S2000 driven hard, it can be a little more "exciting" than most initially predict.
They probably said it is twitchy because the 20 cars they were in before yours had massive understeer and they were probably a little surprised when yours rotated so easily. That being said, many autocrossers and track junkies with S2000 do put on a larger front swaybar to help get the power down out of corners. If YOU feel the car is twitchy and needs help then try a larger front swaybar and see if YOU like it.
Hi Scott,
Compared to the Miata, the S2000 IS "twitchy"
.
As mentioned, start with an alignment - there is tons of information about how to set up this car for autocrossing in the FAQ for this forum. I wouldn't go to a bigger front bar until you make the plunge and get a set of dedicated autocross tires with sticky rubber on them. I have driven several S2000 in the autocross environment, and they each have their own character. They have ranged from "Undrivable" (an '00 with worn out Kumho tires and broken front swaybar) to "Nicely Balanced" (the one I'm co-driving now, an '02 with a Saner bar and scrubbed in Hoosiers).
Thanks for posting here - I missed the thread in the FL forum and will add some of my photoes to it soon.

Hey Josh...good to hear from you. Looking forward to your pics! I don't feel my car is twitchy...those were the instructors words...then again, it rained all weekend too. I had my car aligned to factory spec about 6 months ago, so I doubt that it's far from that. CoralDoc inflated my SO-3's to 37ish front & 35ish rear. I was considering a new set of stock rims to put some R compounds or Hoosiers as my next mod.
