Oil doesn't get "stuck" in the head since it's being forced through under pressure. At any one time there's very little oil actually in the motor journals, most (read 50% or more) of it is in the pan, even while the motor is running. The problem is centrifugal forces keep the oil in the pan away from the oil pump intake in a turn. The longer or harder the turn, the more likely you are to run out of your reservoir of oil surrounding the pump intake. Then, bad things happen.

By keeping as much oil as possible near the intake of the pump, you can prolong the amount of time you have before the reservoir gets sucked dry. It can still happen with a baffled pan, it just takes longer. That's why serious race cars couple the use of a baffled pan with a pressurized accumulator a la accusump or similar device.

The next logical step, and most extreme solution is to go with a dry sump oiling system, where there's no or very little oil actually in the pan. Expensive, not too practical, and illegal for many racing series.

Would the oil light come on as an indicator of oil starvation? Used to happen in my 914s till I got a deep sump, but I've never seen the oil light in cornering in the S2000....does this mean that I just haven't seen much oil starvation or is it due perhaps to how the S2000 monitors the oil level/pressure?

By the time the oil light comes on, the pressure is essentially zero and damage is or has occured.

A little more responses from those that track their cars and what you are running would be great.

Thanks for all the repsonses so far.

you will never know if it is overkill.. but the advice I got from J's racing when I was living in Japan was to fit one if tracking the car on proper circuits with high g corners.. for them it would be necessary for Suzuka 130R etc..

Thank You. I have emails out to a couple places to see if they have it in stock.

Ludedude. I notice you mention selling them. You got one?

I sent a message over to the shop, I should know on Monday if we have any made up and if not how long it will take us to fab one up for you. We usually run them 5 or 10 at a time, I'm just not sure how many are left in stock right this second.

Our pans are the only ones with trap doors on them to allow faster drain back of oil into the sump area during transitional movements.

Is that why yours is more expensive than the Mugen one?

Amazing to see Mugen not be the high cost provider of something.

Ours is the same list price as the Mugen, $400 plus shipping, so $425 all in since TC Design prefers to charge flat rate shipping to lower 48 states on these.

In your case, with the Gold Member discount, you would pay $385 shipped to your door. I'm pretty sure that's cheaper than the Mugen

I made my own, but I've also got a TIG welding friend that works for Beer. Mine's nowhere near as cool as GFL's trap door model, but just as good as a Mugen
