The bumper bar is there to fulfill the 5MPH impact requirement which sez that you need to be able to sustain an impact on the front and rear bumpers without sustaining damage at speeds up to 5MPH. Without that beam the car would not pass that test. They didn't put it there because they had extra steel laying around, dumbass

btw, I was rear ended at 30mph while at a dead stop w/o the bumper bar. I'll look for the pics later..
You were rear-ended because the other driver was fixated on your wing... "What the heck is that thing "....screeech....bang!

bah! that doesn't matter.

I'm not adovcating him removing them, but at the same time its not that big of a deal if he removed them.

If you remove your bumper bars the terrorists win!

It's more than helpful, it's a bible. I don't know how people can go without.

What part of the interior are you thining of removing? I'm telling you--the weight reduction by removing the interior isn't a good idea unless you're building a race car AND have removed everything else first. The price for those 10 lbs of interior pieces are: sharp sheetmetal edges that will cause major injuries in an accident, almost unbearable amounts of road noise, and will seriously effect resale value. Additionally, it's a BITCH to take out and put back in.

Pull a door panel off and you'll see what I'm saying--weighs almost nothing.
