If weight reduction is your goal, one of the early posters in this forum was a strong proponent of changing to his lightweight racing girlfriend. He claimed about 35 pounds of weight reduction in one simple step .

You can easily lose 20lbs but it looks like you already have. Are posted above including a CF hood and truck lid, lose the X brace, remove the HVAC system. You've got 100lbs right there. I personally don't find not having an HVAC system livable in a street car but that's up to you. There really isn't much in an S2000 that you can remove or that doesn't hold something else where it belongs.

Sounds like you can do

Lighter flywheel -5
Lighter brakes -30
Lighter battery -12
Lighter header -15

Which yields -62.

Then maybe you would also consider adding a CF hard top and removing the soft top, which I think will save around 25-30 lbs.

The exhaust is a good place to start, and will not bump you out of stock if you autocross. And it really is not very loud.

The soft tops frame is VERY heavy.

I know caus eI just lifted it this morning cause I had to move all my car stuff to my new house

Also the stock roll hoobs (and the chassis for is) is heavy.

But you only wanna take that out if you put a cage instead

thanks for all the great advice, at the moment my car is at about 2670 with a full tank of gas, i will eventually change out my stock battery with a lighter one and thats about it. I dont want to go to a lighter BBK but i was wondering if when the time came to change rotors are there any that are alot lighter than stock? if so what brand and where can i find them, i saw somone mention project mu rotors but i havent heard of any others that offer performance gain (in terms of less rotating mass) thanks again for all the help.

It's not that bad....get a Helm or a Factory manual and set aside a few hours for the job. The only issue I had with the removal was when I removed the condenser? (the heavy thing on the passenger side by the footwell) it was still filled with refrigerant and when I was tryint to maneuver it around to get it out it flipped over and dumped refrigerant into my eyes and straight up my nose into my sinuses. I literally had to turn the hose on and flush that shit out of my head.

because there is none. less mass but same dimension as stock would be inferior by default.

[edit] there is the wave rotor if you like to live dangerous.
