What is a better value than S2000 for dd/hpde
Because the entry point for a c5 is a lot cheaper then a c6 and c7 and yet is engineered to perform well for the money spent.

C5-z06 is your price point. You could go c6, but it's just a heavier car that looks nicer that will eat consumables faster.
C7 - avoid. The car was designed during "The Great Recession" when GM declared bankruptcy and had to get bailed out. There were a lot of compromises and shortcuts that were made, and most everyone who has heavily tracked the vehicle has since moved on to another platform because they're one-lap turd wonders. They are not reliable at all and will probably destroy your pocket as badly as your FD3s.
My price point is closer to 50k. I would rather spend under 30k. When I had problems with my fd3s one of the cars I saw doing great on the track was s2000. I was just using 25k ish as an example. I don't want to compare a modified s2000 with dodge viper, gts etc... When I do track events here in the bay area I see lots of s2000, skylines, lotus, porsche and corvettes.
You said $25k.

Shocker, much of what you read on the internet is somewhere between over blown and wholly inaccurate.
As to the OP’s question, it would be interesting to analyze every post in this thread to see what’s menioned most often... prob s2000 and C5Z, for good reasons.
I got into a C7 Z51 when they came out in 14. I later updated to a C7 Z06. I have been flogging a C7 on street and track now for 4 years and can tell you from personal experience they are absolutely fantastic.

A helmet. I’ve considered the brey krause harness bar.
On the Z51 only changes were pads and track alignment. On the Z06 pads, track alignment, and Forgelines.
TBH, the Z06 is fast enough I feel like it needs a cage. After several years of not towing I’m considering towing again... anyone selling an HC-1 s2000?

Moot point though to topic at hand, being basically a 6 figure car.
I vote Miata. You can absolutely flog them on track, they're reliable, cheap, fun to drive, consumables are inexpensive and you'll always find a few to play with on the track. The downside is they need a roll bar for many tracks.

It sounds like you are running 3-pt belts, no HANS, no rollbar or cage. I would find that terrifying. I wonder why our safety perceptions are so different. Have any other Corvettes or equally fast cars crashed at events you've been at?
