another canadian class:
CASC GT1/A/B/C/D
GT1: no rules.
GTA: slower than 1:32 at Mosport
GTB: slower than 1:35
GTC: slower than 1:40?
GTD: slower than 1:45?
It's bracket racing... run what ya brung. Got a twin-turbo, 600 bhp S2000 that runs 14"-wide slicks, uses Motons, 14" rotors and a sequential 'box? Run in GT1 with me.
Quebec has GT1, 2 and 3. They are displacement-based rules, and still pretty open. Go there and you'll fit in somewhere.
Everyone should race at Mosport and Mont Tremblant at least once in their life.

I may find myself in GT* soon if CCTCC keeps growing like a weed and attracting big money teams. I may get priced right off the track before too long.

Then you race against faster cars.

That is generally how it works.
You declare your class which have breakout times for the tracks which are run (posted above). Beating that time in qualifying sends you to the back of the grid. Only laps slower than the class breakout time are scored (you lose the lap if you go faster than that time). Lap timers and stopwatches are not permitted or must be out of reach and out of sight of the driver.
Official rules here: http://www.casc.on.ca/documents/regu.../rr07qf-gt.pdf
The S2000 is a GTA or GT1 car depending on who's driving and how it's equipped. In my case it's a GTA car but in Malcolm's it's a GT1 car (he does a 1:33 in my car as it's setup - to my 1:37 - which is very restrictive. With wider tires, I'm running 235/40R17s all around, he would turn a 1:31)
Sorry my last answer was vague.

yeah, cthree is right. break out? dq. pretty simple.
with 100 lbs/in less in the rear and a front splitter, the car would be dangerously close to 31's with the current tires...

malcom, are you planning to do the warbonnet enduro? krazik and davepk are planning on coming up to drive with me that weekend. I'm thinking of dropping on some wider tires for the enduro and sprint races and putting it in GT1 against you
