If you're a good enough of a driver it will.

Well, your friend is full of sh*t then.

225 hp vs 240 hp.

If you read motor trend or C/D, s2000 will beat TT in everything.

maybe in the rain or snow....

Not the launch. Even though it's primarily FWD with a faux AWD system, it'll still out launch a S2000. After that ... well, like you said - his friend is full of it

but then again, my 89 cutlass could outlaunch the s2k only for the first second, but it was an outlaunch

don't forget about how much heavier the titty is than the s2k.

While I agree that the S is hard to launch well (too much tire spin needed to get good off-the-line acceleration), I fail to understand the supposed AWD advantage of launching. Seems to me that the inability to spin the wheels sufficiently causes too much bog off the line - sort of the direct opposite of the S launch. If you have a turbo engine, that bog is gonna cost you, too.

It's *easier* to launch the AWD but I don't think you can post the same times as you could with the ability to spin the tires (FWD may be too much of a disadvantage but I don't know that for sure)...

In what?

Road course race track? TT would be toast unless it's raining.

Rally? S2000 would be toast unless it was on tarmac.

Drag Race? All about the launch.

Twisty mountain curves? Bye-bye TT...

Of course all assumes equal driving skill.

At the Oscoda ProSolo the launch lanes were so sticky that we were getting 2.0 60' times just like the WRX's (and MR2's and Z06's). We had to launch from something north of 7500rpm to keep from bogging, and even then there was a slight bog! So the higher the grip, the less of an advantage AWD (or even HP) becomes.

I don't know about the 225hp version, but my Uncle has the 180hp weakling model. I raced him in my '00 Civic Si (intake+exhaust+suspention) and he took me on the launch due to my typical Honda bog, but I came back quick and beat him by about 1/2 carlength at about 80mph. Then we switched cars, and I was ahead of my Si on the launch and almost dead even at 80mph.

Conclusion:

If my FWD 160hp Civic Si can do that to a 180hp TT
I think my RWD 240hp S2k can take the 225hp TT no problemo.

But then again, I just may be talking out of my ass Since I've not raced a 225hp TT yet, but I'll let you know when I do!
