that's funny...a Laguna Blue S2000 kinda did this to me last night, only i didn't instigate the race, and i didn't let him win either...

...i was leaving my folks' neighborhood after dinner, and just as i was about to pull out on to the main road, this S2K goes flying by at ~70mph (we live east of the city, and everyone flies on these back roads). i noticed it was lowered and had a nice sounding dual exhaust. anyways, i pulled out behind him and slowly and unassumingly caught up to him to check his ride out. now i'm never one to instigate a race unless i see something real rare/special, so i had no intentions of racing. but i guess seeing a Supra in the rear-view was enough to unintentionally bait this guy on.

now by the time i had caught up, we had just came to a stop sign. he made his right turn and revved out quite a bit higher than the average driver revs during light driving. as i pulled out behind him, i could hear him shift to 2nd gear and go WOT. as soon as i straighten out, i rev out 1st gear and shift into 2nd, getting a bit sideways in the process . the same thing happens on the 2-3 shift. i let off not quite half-way through 3rd gear, and already i had reduced an 8-carlength gap to a 2-carlength gap from both a speed and an acceleration deficit. i quickly backed off and we slowed down a bit.

he then decides to drop down into 2nd gear and go WOT again. i left my car in 3rd gear and got on it a moment after he did, this time reducing a 4-cerlength gap to a 1/2 carlength. i have no idea how fast i was going when i shut down (i was watching the road, not the speedo), but i never shifted out of 3rd gear on this pull.

i would have liked to acknowledge the driver with a , but not once would this guy look over after the road split into multiple lanes and i got up next to him...
haha. I was actually waiting for the guy to pull up the next light to give him a grin but he never pulled up.

By the way, I am probably the most anti-rice guy ever. I dislike most imports, I removed my body kits, I raised the car (it was a scraper, its now 'lowered') and I run it hard when I have the chance. It was just bad timing and I thought it was hilarious Most likely the guy in the supra thought I was a ricer, but ehll, whatever At that time, when I jhust bought the car, it was scraping all over, it had a body kit, and bald ass tires.

I will not risk my life for a few sec's of fun if its decently safe and I can run it to 80-90% without really endangering anyone other than me, I'd have done it

Hm?

Anyway, back on topic-

I finally got a real race from someone today!

SR20'd (or some sort of KA-T??) 240sx (s14). He was blowing off @ me, and he watned to race so we went. I down shifted first, since he was just pacing me, I heard him down, WOT, so I went WOT. I got the jump on him, since I downed shifted first, and pulled a half car beceause of that. I slowly pulled away, by the end of third I was maybe 1.5-2cars away. I shut it down cuz I had a offramp soon, let him know by tapping brake pedal. He slowly pulled up next to me, gave him a peace sign and a thumbs up and went on my merry way.

Finally. A real race w. the s2k. Kind of suprised that it kept up with a turbo'd 240sx...Never knew how fast/slow those things were til now. Sounds about right? Did i race a crappy driver? or is that a normal outcome... IIRC, the SR20 has less pwoer than a F20, and the s14 is close in weight.?

If it was a near stock SR20 or a lower boost KA-T that would make sense.

Mausti, congrats on a nice ride - wish I could still get a F20 in the States.
