The results of the race will depend on whether the Corvette has the 2.73 rear end or the 3.15s. If you drive well, you have a good chance against a 2.73 car. A C5 with a 3.15 rear end will run below a 13.5 in the 1/4 trapping in the low mid 100s (103-105), while a 2.73 car will run high 13s trapping low 100s.

Have a friendly run, it should be close. Don't be snarky and make comments about how you could buy his car. Maybe he has a wife, kids, and a mortgage to pay for.

so let me get this straight... with just an intake and catback you put down 209 to the wheels on your earlier model ap1.... doesnt sound right at all... earlier model ap1's dyno around + - 190 stock... you didnt gain almost 20 whp from an intake and catback
I put out 208whp & 137tq. I/E/tp. AP1 waaaay back in the dinosaur days. Some folks in here are in the 220whp.

your LT1 info is wrong. It should be high 13's at 100+mpg....not 15.1. 15.1 would be the POS TPI motor from the early early 90's, late 80's when nothing was fast. 96 manual vettes run almost stock to stock with LS1's as they have Lt4's.
This guy speaks truth.

Stock Z28/TAs run 13's all day long with the LT1... The vette is significantly lighter.

IIRC, some C4's came with the TPI engine (also 5.7L..dont get them confused though).

The TPI made significantly less HP (more torque, but limited by intake runners iirc).

my buddy has a 99 trans am ws6.. with alot of miles on her ..alot.. so i am sure she not making her peak power anymore

but in a rolling race from 75 to about 120.. we stayed dead nose to nose. more then likely he will beat you. now if he had a stick then you could hope for a mis shift or somthing..

gl and have fun.

Race him from a dig and do a proper launch (6K RPM). His has all-season tires...

take him out for a run, i've beaten a stock auto 03 c5 pulling about 1.5 cars on him on a 40 roll. I've also gotten beaten by a 05 c5 manual with minor bolt ons, keeping neck to neck until he hits 4th and he walks away pulling upwards of 3 cars by 110. either a dig or roll should be close with you having a slight advantage from my previous experience.

A stock C5 Z06 ate a fully built Comptech S2000 in an autocross and around a track... The LS1's are nothing to be taken lightly

I would think in lower speeds like maybe 40-100ish u will be right there with slightly edging him out perhaps, but anything over 100-120 I dont think u stand a chance even with an auto vette. Decent power with the aero that vettes have make it harder for us to hang in the triple digits. But i think a 40-100 roll would be a good run or even lower a 25-100 roll. But as stated those LS1's are no slouches even in stock form, and yes the LS6 in the c5 z06 is a different animal in stock form. Run him and tell us the results...

having had both cars in question, a C5 Vette with auto tranny and a 02 S2000, I can guarantee that the C5 will win if both are stock, even with a marginal driver in the C5.. I took my C5 to the track quite abit and 100% stock (including OEM runflat tires) with 2.73 gears I was able to get a 13.55@103.96 out of it.. so figure a C5 with 3.15 gearing will probably pick up atleast 1/4 of a second and 2-3 mph over that.. (definitely out of a stock S2000's league)

Having said that, I wanted to see how my S2000 did against a C5 on the road, it wasn't pretty for me, passengers in both vehicles and while my launch was ok, by the time we hit about 80, he was rapidly pulling ahead of me.. (I backed out of it by then)

with your mods, should be a decent race..

You've got a weight advantage, but the Vette has much more power.
