Default 6.0 GTO

Getting on the highway today after a badass test drive of an IS-F, im behind a reddish GTO. He had a passenger and so did I. I hit a lil' vtec on the on ramp and let him know im there, he in turn stepped on it, letting out a loud roar w/ the exhaust sounding like it was popping a bit when he let off. we get on the road there is are openings in the fast lane and the slow lane w/ someone in the middle. he looks over and i gun it in 3rd 6k rpm. I get a good jump, because even though he was downshifted and ready to go, I dont think he was expecting me to jump. but hell he has a 6 liter and i have a 2 liter so if i jump, oh well deal with it, anyway, i run out third and he pulls back even before we shut down.
Next run, we get down the road and traffic opens up a bit more. side by side now. We both get on it. me getting a 1/2 second hit again, i ring out third, he pulls even, i shift to 4th and he just waaaaalks on by, a pretty steady pull but nothing too crazy.
He was trying to line up again but i waved him off, i think it could've been worse considering i had a 200lb. passenger +40 lbs hardtop. My only mods are a snorkel, header. and test pipe.
Kinda wish I was still in the IS-F....I this wouldve ended differently.

man so many or these stories with the new GTO's.

Nice encounter I guess but so hard to believe you are getting a jump on him and he is only pulling even by end of third gear.

My 2 encounters with these cars were much different.

Basically their torque/hp > the s2k.

Nice driving though.

I raced one of these from a dig, I bogged the launch but would have just beat him by 80, then he shut down

i can respect them. they're definitely a statement of function over form, and that's much better than a mustang owner that thinks his v6 is faster than a rocketship.

this was my experience as well when comin off an off ramp and i had the initial jump.
in a street encounter, the initial jump often makes a big difference that takes a lot to overcome.
of course, i was smart enough to shut down as soon as he caught up and was ready to burn me =)
i did have 4.77 that helped a bit early on
