Default Oops...my first loss

well, after a few highway encounters with slower cars, and one back road night with a Vette C6, I finally truly got taken, and taken good.

I got on the on-ramp to the highway, pulling in behind a modified C5 convertible, ahead of a highly modified (ricer style) celica GTS. All I could tell from the rear was that the vette had a Borla system on it. There was a bunch of traffic ahead of us, but I could tell he wanted to go, so I dropped it in second, holding it at 6k rpm around the ramp. He let loose at the end of the ramp, and I definitely had better exit speed, and of course was right at Vtec, so I kept up and even pulled on him a bit due to my quick shift. Hoewer, we came up on traffic before we even hit 100, so we had to slow.

I dropped it into....I don't even remember what gear, but we were at slow highway speed and I was right at 5k rpm. I want to say 3rd. The traffic obstruction moved over, and he went for it. We both took off at the same time, and I held for a second....until my snafu. I was trying to watch the road, so I wasn't watching my tach, and I couldn't hear a darn thing over his sweet exhaust note, so when he started to pull away, I realized I had forgotten to shift, and was bouncing off the rev limiter. OOPS. needless to say, he would've had me anyway, as he kept pulling, but I at least could've held him off for another gear.

I accepted my loss, we slowed back down, and I passed him and gave the
The celica, which we had left in the dust, then did a nice ricer flyby to me, to get me to race....but I had had enough.

The last good run i had was a C6. Being the typical corvette owner he always took the liberty of getting a huge jump..... not that it mattered

Yes, I will give supra owners props. They NEVER take the jump.

Or is it because they are waiting to spool?

I made a point of waiting to hear the turbo spool before I punched it today. The open wastegate was like a fire siren, but he still went down.

It was a fast supra, and it was a great run.

We're going to set a date for a rematch.

He's going to bring race gas and 29lbs of boost, Im going to bring a VERY small pulley.
