Default 98 Accord vs SRT-4

I just had to do it.

Going through Farmer's Branch on Friday coming home from work, an SRT-4 pulled up next to me on the right (someone else on the left) at a stop light. His lane was closed up ahead so I knew he'd be gunning it to get ahead of me.

Now, let's stop and think. I've got 135 crank hp - he's got about 270 crank hp (if the latest dynos are correct). He's got nearly triple the torque I have. I have a few hundred pounds more weight.

I can take him if I'm quick off the line.....well, at least through first gear and maybe second....I think.

I don't rev, he doesn't rev, we just sit sit there waiting. I roll down my window, hoping to get a chance to hear the BOV (I love that sound). The light turns green and I roll out slowly - he missed the light change.

After a second or two of nonaction, I say "forget it - I'm going". So, I tromp the go pedal and take it to the top, hoping he'll go for it as well. He spins lightly off the line and I know he's going to try for the pass before his lane closes. I'm over the redline, taking it to fuel cutoff, bam, into 2nd (a whopping 35 mph or so ).........and then he passes me as I hit about 45 mph. He shifts just as he passes me and I get that quick, short "Psssssshhhh" as he blows by me.

No chance. No mercy. No hope. Just a quick blow off and a little Neon barrelling down the road at well over 70mph.

I should've bought that S2000 on the weekend for $18K...

Don't you have an s2000, all this time I could have sworn you had one for some reason. Anyways nice story, thats why you buy a bike not too expensive and it will blow the SRT out of the water.

Nope I don't have one - don't ask me why I'm listed as an owner, either, because I have absolutely no idea.

Bike comes next year, if I come to Texas for good. My bro is getting rid of his CBR600F4i for a new litre bike - perhaps I should grab that.

Have you rode before, I would suggest a Susuki SV650 or GS500 if you haven't, awesome starter bikes. Get a bike I love them, the main reason I drive an s2000 is because it is the closest car that resembles a bike.

I have ridden before (and spilled before), though in honesty, I probably won't get an ultra-serious, razor sharp sport bike but rather a sporty bike (likes those you suggested). Cheaper to buy, easier to adjust to, and probably less tempting to wring out on a public road.
