996TT vs. c5 Z06
No details but i was running out with a friend over the weekend to grab some wings with the weather being decent took the 911. ran into a z06, the first few stretches we ran out of road, i finally got a nice clear path(no cars and interstate) from about 65 to 140+ without him gaining he was about 2 cars back(started about there and stayed there).
I was quite impressed i knew they were fast and it sounded great!!
We got off at an exit exchanged some compliments, thumbs up, and were on our way.
I realized that i am getting too old for this as i kept thinking about responsibilities work, family, ect...... I am much more comfortable on the track.

911TT's are THE number one car I go "looking for" out on the street. You probably complain about Z06 drivers too but 99% of what I find are old men (like me) who won't play (not like me). As near as I can tell, from maybe a half dozen playmates, we are awfully close in acceleration with driver skill (or screw-ups) making a bigger difference.

My experience has been similar, they are dead even.
Of course, the Corvette is an American car and therefore an unreliable piece of shit whereas the Porsche is obviously fantastic and superior in every way because it costs more...

i was surprised pretty much dead even, the only thing that scares me is that people with half a brain and limited driving skills can now afford these cars!!

I would think the X50 package would give the 996TT a bit of an edge? Of course, an intake and headers would even that right back up on the Z06. Either way, good run! I like running into 996TT's around town. The few that I've gotten to play are very similiar in acceleration with my car.

This is an interesting thread. I am surprised to read of so many s2000s keeping pace with a 996TT. Perhaps I am just niave, but I thought even SC s2000s are high 12s (perhaps mid 12s), whereas stock 996TTxs are low 12s - high 11s. How fast are these s2000s that are running even with 996TTs and what mods do they have?
FWIW, Ive stomped countless Z06s and a few s200s as well.

996TT, you're a bit confused -
Penforhire has a Z06
I have a modified C5 Coupe
SteveC has an '02 996TT
OSUS2k has an '03 996TT.
We would be calling BS if people running anything less than very highly modified turbocharged S2000's saying they run with a 996TT. Even the supercharged S2000's are lucky to get into the 12's consistently.
