a 12.4 on 1,000 foot track would have a trap speed of maybe high 80's to low 90's. that car would take at least 2.2 to 2.3 seconds to travel the additional 320 feet to the end of a hypothetical 1/4 mile. that would make it a mid 14 second car, at least according to my calculations.

all show and no go.

i hope that the turbo isn't plumbed up, or something. if so, they need to invest in some tuning!!!

damn ace...i applause you for your mathematical calculations...but you still can't judge how long it would take him to go another 320 feet...it all depends on what else he did to the car...especially with the light hood it would shave off .3 or .4 seconds...we all know the stock hood is way to damn heavy...you also have to take into considerations whether or not he went through any lightnening stages...oh..by the way...The wing looks kool as hell

Well, a 1000-ft track. That explains the time despite those power-sucking 18's. OK, makes sense now.

ok then, here's my estimates broken down for you:

assuming a wildly optimistic trap speed of 105 mph, that means the car was covering 154 feet per second when it closed out this hypothetical run... 105(miles/hour)*5280(feet/mile)/360(seconds/hour)=154fps

the run was stated to be 1000 feet. a quarter mile is 1320 feet. 320 feet additional distance.

he wasn't going 105 at the 1000 ft mark, but i'll use the number to keep it simple. 320(feet/second)/154(feet)=2.08 seconds

you are looking at a mid 14 second s2000... obviously the driver sucks or the track is at huge altitude or the car really sucks or he had bad gas in it or or or or or

math doesn't lie and i don't need to know about weight reduction. it's just a simple time versus distance problem.

and who ever said that the aluminum hood on the S was was too heavy. swap it out for cf and some hood pins, and you're saving what 5 or 6 pounds?

the eclipse that rans the 11.1 (1000ft) is probably running high 12's on the 1/4.

12.4 is definitely attainable in a turbo S, ChrisD ran a 12.6 @ 116 mph shortly after turbocharging on less than desirable street tires. With some DR's he would have easily shaved a couple of tenths.

tenths of a second are a lot, two tenths espescially, remember this is on a 1000 ft track, does ChrisD also have huge 18 in wheels.

He should also take off those heavy ass Workmeister rims and put on his stock rims to get better times. Those Workmeister rims are pretty heavy. We tested out this fact many times, thus making a fellow S2000 owner buy some lighter rims.

The stock hood is aluminum and weighs about the same as any of the carbon hoods out there, give or take a pound or two. .4 seconds...guess again kid. Maybe you should ask your rich uncle to buy you a clue
