ap1 vs G35
Had a run with a G35 on the way home from an autox tonight. He'd been driving agressively on the highway, but had jumped into the far right lane to get off at an exit...the same exit that I needed. He'd moved over really early, which allowed me to exit first. He got right on my bumper at the light and went to the outside lane of the cross street as the light turned green. We lined up side-by-side at the next light. I didn't launch very well (I hate holding the rev's up when just sitting waiting for the light to go green), so he got about 1/2 a CL at the launch. At the end of first, I was already 1/2 CL ahead and by the end of 2nd about 1.5 CL ahead.
Then we came up to another light. This time, I wasn't going to let him get the jump. Dumped the clutch at 5500 and shot out a CL right off. I guess he knew he wouldn't be able to catch up, so he made a quick duck into a gas station.

Nice win!
What year G35? Was it a coupe? Manual or auto? Many G35s are auto, even the coupes. Either way you should be quicker then the any G35 coupe. They are slower then the 350Z.
The new G35 with the manual should be faster then the S2k but they have a very tricky manual so it's pretty easy to out drive one (I drove one myself). The new G35 4 door with the new 350 engine (306HP) is faster then the G37 coupe. The G37 may have 330HP but it is so heavy. I think a strong Sk2 can hang or beat the new G37. On the street anyway.

Nice kill!
Stock pre '07 G35's IMO should always lose to a stock s2000. The new ones do have a serious kick though. I've driven them. There top end is fabulous.
On a side note though, pretty much totally contradicting my last statement. I happen to run, and pull on my buddies stock S2000 yesterday in my '04 G35 coupe. All I have is a CAI too. He was slowly inching away from me in 1st and 2nd, but in 3rd I stopped his pull, and actually started pulling back on, and past him in 4th gear. At the light I made sure to lay into him a little about his driving, or lack there of. Anyway, I got a little kick out of it though.

It was a coupe...not sure the year or the tranny.
I have played with a new G37 but not an "official" race. Best we were able to do is a start where he was behind me. I pulled a bit at the launch and then we stayed at the same separation. It didn't appear that he was able to gain. But those kinds of "races" are decieving.
