I'm driving home late last night, and I get up to a red light behind a brand new Acura TL. I could hear the stereo booming from this thing even with his windows closed, and he had the chrome exhaust. When the light turns green, he steps on it. I decided to keep up behind him, but there was another light soon and I had to turn left.

Since he's in front, he gets in the far left turning lane. I get into the left turning lane to his right (the outside). He gives me a look, and when the light turns green, he goes. Now my car has 108K miles on the clutch and diff, and it's my DD, so I start gently and don't go WOT until I'm going about 8MPH. He hammers away immediately. He seemed to be moving faster this time, as I didn't pass him until late in 2nd gear. I then shifted to 3rd, pull a a car length ahead, and then shut down. At the next light I give him a thumbs up and he says "nice car, man, is that an S2000?" I said yes and told him his car moved pretty well too.

Overall I was glad this guy was cool about it and that he didn't think I had a BMW or a Miata. I've heard that too many times

 

Did you go WOT as you were turning or after you apexed? Good to hear he wasn't a jerk like 99% of the people you meet this way.

 

I went WOT once I moved my foot to the dead pedal, about 1/3 of the way through the turn. He had a shorter turn since he was on the inside, so I didn't start reeling him in until after we had both finished turning
