Default AP1 vs GTP

This morning on the way to work I was boxed in by a group of suvvies (of course). I spotted a gap and dodged through into the clear. There was a light coming up so I started to slow down. A black car that I hadn't noticed before broke free of the suvvies and came up beside me. I could hear his exhaust so I looked over and noticed it was an early 2000s supercharged Grand Prix GTP.

We both stopped at the light. Neither of us was making any overtures so when the light changed I just took off normally. He did the same and he was about a car length behind me when we hit 30. Then he pulled up beside me and started gunning it. But there was another light coming up and there were cars in my lane so I had to pull over behind him at the light.

When the light turned he dropped the hammer. I just stayed right behind him until we were clear of traffic and then I changed lanes and we were off. This stretch turns into freeway so I knew there were no more lights or side streets. I pulled even with him through 2nd and passed him in the top of 3rd. I decided to let off around 105 cause there was no more point to prove.

I imagine he was pretty surprised to have his supercharged V6 killed by a NA 4-banger.

I think those things get pretty quick with some mods. Do you think it was stock?

I figure that he had an exhaust cause I could hear it, but probably no other mods.

With a pulley and a reflash he would have beat me easy.

they get VERY nasty with a few small mods, just like most factory FI cars. good run.

Never liked Pontiak, good kill. I love our N/A 4cyl and what it can do.

Good kill. Those things take to mods like a duck to water, but you do have him in the weight dept. without a doubt! (FWD also sucks, sorry, but I hate it).

very well couldve been stock because all 3800s have a louder, "sporty" sounding exhaust from the factory.

The 3800 can be pretty nasty, especially from the line (they were always a down low grunt machine). I owned a 98....had a few goodies...pully, etc.

They really come alive with small things. Many people underestimate them especially if it looks stock
