Default AP1 vs MT G35

Gettin on the freeway and my buddy who drives a new 6-speed MT G35 coupe is on my ass. We both gun it at same time in 2nd gear on a 15mph roll gettin on the freeway after the onramp, I stayed around 3-4 cars ahead until I hit around 115, then he slowly passed me. I knew those things were fast at top end. He said he wants to do it from a dig next time. Nothing spectacular but thought I'd share.

That sounds right to me others will argue and also the top end isn't so much the G35 is good as the S2000 is bad. (Low TQ/bad drag coefficient)

ok starting at 15mph in 2nd gear is HORRIBLE. thats even bad for 1st! you were so far out of VTec it wasnt even funny. you have a 2000 so you have an AP1 and you were probably at 3000 rpms when you went WOT. you need to be at 30mph in 1st, 45mph in 2nd, 65mph in 3rd and so on. if you had a 30mph race with you starting in 1st you wouldve destroyed him. i have easily EASILY walked every G35 ive ever raced.

VTec is IMPERATIVE for a S2000 if it is to be driven to it's full potential. not starting in VTec is like an Evo starting without the turbo so its as slow as a Lancer OZ Rally!

try it again at a 30mph roll or 45mph roll and youll kill him

you shoulve still been in first. you wouldve been at about 5800 rpms if you had been in 1st at 25mph which is still not quite in VTec. if you were in 2nd you were probably at around 3800-4000rpms which isnt good. try him again starting in VTec and you'll see a difference. he may or may not still pull you above 110 but i guarantee youll pull him harder than you did before 100mph.

I just want to note that the VQ engine isn't "amazing from a roll" or pull hard over 110. Note this race only went to 120 but I pull him up top in an AWD car.

i had a VQ35 in my 2002 maxima... even though she wasn autotragic, she moved pretty well, even in upper 100's... kept pulling and didnt let go until i did.

My buddy had his evo stock and raced a G35 and it pulled on him around that speed. i really dont know what my point is right now cuz i'm in class and brain dead... as a matter of fact ignore this...

ive never ever had a problem with a G35. ive always pulled multiple carlengths on them from 45-110 (4-5 cars) they are ridiculously heavy and do not pose a threat IMO.
