mazda had a few lawsuites when it overrated its motor... when they first came out they were rated as making at least 10-15 more horsepower.

The Rx8 is overrated in terms of power. They compete more with the likes of the RSX type S. They get manhandled by the S2000.
Very true. I pulled on one in my stock RSX Type S

Outside of handling, they are less than impressive. If they ever do come out with a Mazdaspeed version, it's probably still going to be less than impressive.

No it's a 1.3L producing 232 hp.
so then why does the F20C hold claim to the most HP/L?

Thats probaly for a piston motor...RX-Lates don't have any pistons...

A rotary engine goes through power strokes roughly twice as fast as a 4-stroke engine, so sometimes they are considered as double their physical displacement. Essentially, the 1.3L rotary runs as a 2.6L 4-stroke, so that's why nobody(except maybe rotary owners) really jumps up and down about the hp/displacement.

Also, I've seen RX8's dyno 30whp less than an S2k on the same dyno. They are at about 170whp stock, so don't believe too much of what Mazda says about the hp.
