ap1 vs. sky redline
well i was on my way to work this morning and i was tired as hell!!! As i was merging onto 50east i noticed two cars behind there was a silver sky redline. i am now fully awake because i have wanted to run one sense they came out. i put my car in 6th and start to cruise at about 60 mph to let him catch up. he slowly starts to pass and i notice a dealer tag. I put it in neutral (sp?) and rev to let him know whats up and he takes the bait. We are both in third at about 55 mph (not in vtec) and he honks 3 times and we are off!! he pulls a fender on me and holds it till i hit about 7k rpm and i slowly start gaining. BANG!! i smash 4th and start to pass him! i let off at top of 4th being about 1/2 car in front of him. as i start to take my exit for work he darts over and gets behind me! as we come off the exit there is a beautiful red light staring us down. He rolls down the window and asks me what i have done and that he was impressed. He then asks if i wanna go from 1st and im like hell ya!! The light changes green and i roll off and so does he. This time i honk 3 times and we both smash it and to my surprise he pulls a car. I hit second and it was still the same. Hit 3rd and slowly start to make ground but we had to stop at the end of third cause of traffic. all i have to say is that thing was quick even quicker than i thought. all i have is a custom cat back exhaust. What a great way to start a 12hr shift.
I like the Sky but I sure as hell wouldn't trade it for my S. It's such a down grade. no power top and no trunk and talk about GM reliability. I recently went on there forum and did some spying and they try to compare there cars to ours. stock for stock the sky makes 177HP VS our 240. GM had to throw a turbo in the engine bay to make more HP and it's also a 2.0. the non turbo is a 2.2 or 2.4? can't remember.
the interior isn't bad. i'm waiting to get into a race with one.

N/A buddy, surf on over to consumer reports and look up s2000. then look up, colorado, vette, cobalt.... you'll get the idea. and this is coming from a long time GM owner/fan.
I will be the FIRST to admit the F-body has more "little flaws" than the S2K. That is the difference between a semi-hand built car and an assy. line car.
What I mean is that a well-cared for F-body will go hundreds of thousands of miles without much going wrong on it if you can tolerate replacing a water pump and maybe some T-top noise.
Point-in-case is look at all the LT1's you see on the road! Go a litte further back...how many IROC's and other 3rd gen cars are there? A lot more than there are 80's imports just from what I have visually observed.

You probably would have pulled him from the dig if you had done a 6k clutch drop. Torque down low is what gave him the lead off the dig.
but good run nonetheless. im actually impressed with the S2K in this instance. the redline has a turbo and we're N/A, yet we can take them from almost any situation if driven properly.

maybe a bad driver, but i thought the redlines could beat an s2k...
anyway, one of my friends was gonna buy a sky redline, but they have a 1yr waiting list for them lol
