Gm is a lot more reliable than you think. I am tired of coming on the S boards and seeing an engine fire a week and then hearing other brands durability ratings knocked. What makes you think the S is more reliable than GM's sport's cars?
Engine fire a week? I think you're thinking of the FD RX-7 boards.

N/Apower, trying to compare reliability between these two companies is rediculous. Get over it.

I'm not sure what your problem is man. Firstly, why the heck is a WS6 owner tooling around on an s2ki forum. I've seen your posts over the last few months, and I'm not sure what your trying to prove.

An engine fire a week? You did log on to s2ki.com right? I'm not sure I've ever heard of an actual engine fire in an S2000.

F-bodies were decent vehicles for the price and what they were intended to do. But stop trying to compare them and other GM vehicles to the S2000. As I mentioned in your other thread, the S2000 has piston speeds comparable to that of an F1 motor, and F1 motors are rebuilt every 2 races. If Honda told me an F20C/F22C had to be rebuilt every 30k miles I wouldn't be in overly surprised. And yet things are unbelievably bulletproof - case in point, Modifry's car, which finally needed a rebuild at 160000 miles - 100000 of which were spend supercharged!

Even though the S2000 has generally superior reliability to most sports cars, I don't think you can compare its reliability to other sports car, given the stresses that the car is subject to.

well i was on my way to work this morning and i was tired as hell!!! As i was merging onto 50east i noticed two cars behind there was a silver sky redline. i am now fully awake because i have wanted to run one sense they came out. i put my car in 6th and start to cruise at about 60 mph to let him catch up. he slowly starts to pass and i notice a dealer tag. I put it in neutral (sp?) and rev to let him know whats up and he takes the bait. We are both in third at about 55 mph (not in vtec) and he honks 3 times and we are off!! he pulls a fender on me and holds it till i hit about 7k rpm and i slowly start gaining. BANG!! i smash 4th and start to pass him! i let off at top of 4th being about 1/2 car in front of him. as i start to take my exit for work he darts over and gets behind me! as we come off the exit there is a beautiful red light staring us down. He rolls down the window and asks me what i have done and that he was impressed. He then asks if i wanna go from 1st and im like hell ya!! The light changes green and i roll off and so does he. This time i honk 3 times and we both smash it and to my surprise he pulls a car. I hit second and it was still the same. Hit 3rd and slowly start to make ground but we had to stop at the end of third cause of traffic. all i have to say is that thing was quick even quicker than i thought. all i have is a custom cat back exhaust. What a great way to start a 12hr shift.
nice kill from a rolll. I'm surprised you managed to reel him in, even though you started out of VTEC both times.

What kind of catback do you have installed?

I like the Sky but I sure as hell wouldn't trade it for my S. It's such a down grade. no power top and no trunk and talk about GM reliability. I recently went on there forum and did some spying and they try to compare there cars to ours. stock for stock the sky makes 177HP VS our 240. GM had to throw a turbo in the engine bay to make more HP and it's also a 2.0. the non turbo is a 2.2 or 2.4? can't remember.
the interior isn't bad. i'm waiting to get into a race with one.
Oh brother.. another fanboi..."its a downgrade".....

stock for stock an impreza has 160hp and your s2k has 240, so Subaru had to turbo it to get 300 for the sti. sound familiar? What exactly are you getting at with your post?

Did I see someone actually quote from consumer reports?

I have a Vortech on stock boost in my S and i'll put a hurtin' on a stock STI.

and your point is?

stock for stock the S will pull on any N/A 4 banger.

the Z,STI,Evo,etc.... are in a different class.it's amazing how the S can even keep up with these cars.

peace

It IS a downgrade. Finicky top, useless trunk, lower grade plastics in the interior, soggy chassis dynamics in comparison to the S2000, a fraction of the driving experience, and even with 260hp and 260lbft of torque, it still can't quite beat the S through the quarter.

Best times I've seen for the Redline/GXP twins has been low 14s. An S2000 with Batman behind the wheel will post a high 13, inspite of being down 20hp, and ~100 lb.ft Part of the reason is that the Redline/GXP twins weight in at ~250lbs more than the S2000.
