Boxster Type S
Leaving a restaurant Saturday night, I pulled up behind a brand new black Boxster Type S in the left turn lane. When the light turned green, he hit the gas and spun his tail end a bit. I could tell he wanted to play but decided to let him go because there was some traffic and I have seen numerous cops at that location in the past. I navigated around the traffic and caught up to him as he is getting on the freeway (75 south).
We ran against each other approximately 10 times starting at about 60-70 mph. The majority of the times he would take a 1 - 1.5 car lead right off the bat. Then I would slowly start reeling him in and pass him at about 105-110mph. However, once I got even with him, I had no trouble passing him the few times we kept going above 120mph. I was so happy with myself.
At higher speeds, the S2000 was definitely faster. The guy was cool (smile, thumbs-up, etc) and we kept messing around for about a 10 mile stretch before he exited.
Both of our tops were down and I also had my airbox out.
I don't race much because there is too much risk and the combination of factors is usually not right: friendly driver, competing car, sparse traffic, opportunity to line up, excellent weather. However, this was probably the most fun I've had in the S2000.

Boxster S. Type-S is for the Acuras, bud.
I've raced a couple of Boxster Ss from a hwy drop. They never gained on me. I gained on them and beat them by a car length when at 120mph I shut it down. When you say you had your airbox out, do you mean to say you had the airbox lid off?
I saw this one Boxster S yesterday with that ugly rear spoiler up while driving on 405. On the part of the spoiler you can only see when it's engaged up it read "Boxster S" but the insignia wasn't painted on there or anything. It was instead a cutout thereby punching some huge holes into the spoiler itself.
Kraut.

Nice race, good kill!. I love races like these, on the highway where you got to go at it a couple of times and best of all, the other driver is cool about it (wining or losing).
I didn't know our car can take the Boxter S, pretty cool, thought we can only take on a regular Boxter.

And I took a red S2000 from the stoplight at 103rd and Metcalf going North for the entire run in my Boxster S, so we still haven't made any progress other than to say on a given day with a given set of drivers and given set of cars then "x" results happened.
I'm actually more curious about the guy with a Boxster S who would actually punch holes in his spoiler to read Boxster S, are you certain they were holes as there are Boxster S logos which can be attached to the spoiler. I've never heard of anyone actually drilling through the spoiler (it is metal) that is just weird.
p.s. try to take the airbox out of a Boxster sometime, everything is wedged in there so tightly that most people end up cutting the airbox before loosening the intake manifold which is generally what is necessary to get the airbox out.
p.s.s. cool to see yet another Boxster S driver who is a good sport, perhaps this will change some opinions about Porsche owners...

Actually neither, it is sort of a gunmetal green/grey color, someone told me it was "Battleship Grey" but I don't know if that is correct or not, I can't tell from my color swatches in a book I have, so I'll have to check at the next Jag meeting to see if anyone has color samples. The car is a keeper because it is pretty rare, it is the OTS with the "C" type heads (210 hp) and 2" bore carbs. It is pretty much all original, but needs some work here and there.
Hey S2Ken, nice cars!
I particularly like the classic Jag...looks perfect.
Are you happy with the 18" GT3 wheels on your Boxster S?
I have them on my C4 and I think they look great but feel quite heavy when compared to uglier lightweight 17" wheels.
What a dilemma
