Default Chevelle SS

This happened to me this afternoon. I was going to the range to hit some golf balls after work. Was traveling a state road that basically runs through town, has 6 lanes total and is heavily traveled. It's not smart to consider racing of any type on this road. As I was traveling close to speed limit I hear the roar of a car and this old Chevelle SS whishes by me. I was amazed someone was openly going this fast on this road. The car did sound nice, but geez. Of course, he soon came to a traffic light. No one was behind him yet so I thought it might be fun to pull on in behind him, but not real close. Besides, I wanted to look at this car. It had an antique car tag on it which I thought was pretty cool. I then looked into the car and this guy with long mangled looking hair whipped his shirt over his head, threw it over on the passengers side and reved a bit. As the change of light was approaching he was kind of lurching forward a bit. When it turned green he gave a pretty moderate launch with tires spinning. He then gunned it down the street in front of our mall, which is normally patrolled. After he was probably 15 or more cars ahead of me cause I didn't do anything regarding chasing him, he started to slow down. As he did, a car which looked like an unmarked highway patrol car (light brown Ford Sedan with smoked glass and lots of little short antennas) whipped out and got very close to him. Looked like they slowed down with him, then the sedan peeled off on a left hand turn. I was really in hopes of seeing some blue lights, but no luck. I was laughing pretty loud by that time. I actually soon caught up to him again. The fool took off, cutting from the left lane to the right lane very recklessly. I was at my turn ( thank goodness) and that was the last I saw of him.

Could have been a '70, but there were plenty of fast Chevelles before that.

Plenty of modded Chevelles out there with 500+ HP and drag radials. No, they can't turn or brake. I watched a magazine project car Chevelle (claimed 670 RWHP) run at auto-x a couple of years back. Too funny - squirt, stop, squirt, stop, slide...

I was watching the newest episode of "Dream Car Garage" on speed channel the other day. Man they built a BAD ASS Goodmark Chevelle SS....And I mean...Bad....Ass. This car laid rubber off 20' rim in the back all the way from 1st to 3rd...the host finnally just let off saying "They wont quit spinning if i dont". They claimed an estimated 600-700whp, but you should have seen how the car started out...From day 1 you would never of thought that 6 months later it would be even any where near what it is today...It was a complete rust bucket. Cool car, But I like to turn when i'm going fast....Muscle cars are mainly for straight line racing, unless you wanna throw a shelby cobra into the mix.
