arnt the z and the snake both underrated from the factory, i think the cobra makes its advertised crank HP to the wheels in stock form,
i could be wrong tho.

yea they have got to be........ether quick s2k has a FREAK, or everything i have heard about the Z06 VS Cobra stock for stock is completely false......
wasnt it "supposed" to be a drivers race in the 1/4 mile with the edge going to the Z???

The Z is faster stock vs stock, but as I mentioned we bought ours used so who knows it may have a mild cam, until I get it on the dyno we wont know. Its just crazy that im barely starting to pull it now with all those mods. I know even other Z's Ive driven dont feel quite as fast as ours but who knows.
Version JDM, average to the wheels for a C5 Z06 is mid-low 350's. Note that's 13% driveline loss for 405 crank HP, exactly what Chevy engineers say it is (mine was spot-in-the-middle at 352 to the wheels). Freaks are clamed into the mid-370's at the wheels but who knows about their dyno accuracy? Heck, there is one believed 11.7 second 1/4 on OEM tires too (that run would beat most cheaply modded Cobras that seem to hit 11.9's).
I believe the "new" Shelby GT500 are dropping high 13's as in 13.9 timeslips (Car and Driver, this month)....for a car like this I anticipated different. Don't get me wrong. Before my S, my '96 Cobra and Steeda had my money. I LOVE COBRAS! I just was'nt impressed. QUIK, you have them both...IF I was going to change rides...and YES the new Z06 is "out of my budget". What would you recommend??
Thanks. I'm slightly off topic, but interested nonetheless....

Yeah I heard most writers werent too impressed with the GT500 because of the weight.
Erick..You asking between the Z06 and Cobra? If so it all comes down to what your using it for. Personally I love to drag race and its hard to beat a Cobra for that as im sure you know. The Z06 does everything well and looks pretty sweet, if I didnt have either and had to chose one I'd probably take the Z06, but only because Ive always wanted a Vette, but now after owning it for a bit, yeah its nice but not as big a deal as it seems it is before you own it.
Lol, if your not talking about the 2...Then its hard to say, I might sell my Cobra in a couple years and get a new Camaro if it comes out or a Challenger etc, one of the retro muscle cars. Again though im into that, you may be more into taking turns etc, so its hard to say
Hope that helps a bit.
