Comptech SCed S2000
August 01 Sport Compact Mag has tested a SC s2000 the #'s seem rather weak for 6k of mods?
Comptech SC kit 4895.00 (no intercooler, stock ignition maps?)
prototype header ( " " )
prototype exhaust ( approx 1200.00)
Results RWHP 293
torque 175 ft/lbs
Stock RWHP 203
torque 135 ft/lbs
0-60 5.7 sec
1/4 mile 13.8 @ 103.9 mph
*IIRC there is an S2000 that here that runs really close to those #'s stock?

Bassmaster,
Those acceleration numbers don't sound much stronger than stock. Everything I have been reading and hearing from SC S2K owners really contradicts those weak numbers.
I guess I'll have to pick up this magazine issue and read up on the sources since I'm interested in doing this kind of work to mine - but I was hoping for far better numbers.
Thanks,

I've driven in the Comptech car just two days ago. I have an S2000 with Comptech filter and RMRacing exhaust. I can say that the Comptech car is markedly faster from 6K rpm up. Shad of Comptech said he was not satisfied with the numbers that the drivers for the magazine came up with. From what he told me they took the car and he only saw the numbers after all tests were completed.
Comparing my "stock" S2000 with the SCed one makes it obvious to me that the increase in power/acceleration is very obvious when you are in the car - and probably when you're beside it as well!
For all of my comments look for post COMPTECH TOUR AND DRIVE on this forum.

Unless they were running at 2000 feet + elevation and really bad conditions, those numbers suck. They must have bogged down, shifted slow and too early OR did an off-idle launch.
My car is stock and I was able to get many 0-60s in the 5.11 with gtech and some 1/4 miles in the 13.6 range. At the track, i had difficulty laying the power down during the launch, and i still had a few 13.8-13.9s with a best of 13.855 while the gtech showed 13.80...
That much power should easilly yield much faster times. 103.9 MPH that they got, which to me indiucates a bogged start, slow shifts and shifting at the incorrect RPMs, should be enough for a 13.5 or so with a good launch by itself.
However an SCd s2k should trap about 107-109 MPH. 2700 pounds with 340 HP should definately be enough for that if driven well.

Whats up New havent seen you on the Mx5 net lately?
The S2000 did pick up a lot of midrange...15mph to 100 stock was 15.7 after the SC addition it did the the same 15mph to 100 at 11.8 sec about a 3.6 sec faster.

Those numbers are weak, they don't know how to drive (launch) an S2000. I pulled 5.1 0-60 when I first dropped the SC on. From what I heard from Shad C&D got a 13.1 1/4 out of the car with 5.1 0-60...which is much truer to the car.
Let me know if this looks much faster than stock:
