One thing interesting SCC said about the Comptech car was that from 15-100MPH it was 3 seconds faster than stock...so obviously - they just had problems launching the car.
The Nuespeed car is in the magazine too, both cars got great reviews.

Yeah, kind of funny, isn't it Wes? A 3 second improvement in that speed range ought to equate to at least a 1 second improvement in quarter mile time.
What I find interesting too is that their stock 15-100 time is a bit slow. C&D, among the slower of the magazine testers, did 0-100 in 14.8 seconds. Their 5-60 time was 1 second slower than 0-60, so 5-100 should have taken about 15.8 seconds. So why does SCC need 15.7 to do 15-100? Ought to be closer to 14.7 I think. Maybe they were testing at altitude?
Nonetheless, with R&T taking 13 seconds to do 20-100 while running 14.1@99.6 in a stock S2k, SCC's quarter ETs are just plain slow. In fact, R&T did 0-20 in 1.2 seconds. So if we're pessimistic, that would mean that SCC, with a good launch, should have been able to do 0-100 in under 13 seconds. Hmm, that's still a good 1 or more seconds behind the 0-100 times of cars like the 360 Spider, Z8 and Z06 (12, 11 and 10 seconds respectively). Now, that raises some flags on Comptech's side of the fence. Because an S2K with 340 hp ought to be pretty darn close in roll-ons to 100 with a Modena (50 hp more, but 600-700 lbs more. Perhaps another indication that they tested at altitude?
If not, maybe the Comptech cars don't perform quite as well as the dyno plots would indicate. Maybe its torque curve (i.e., lack thereof) or maybe its heat soak. Interesting.
