I am a fun loving guy....BTW I asked a friend with 30 years racing experience if you can apex cloverleafs. He said " there is no apex in a continous radius".

I guess he has never driven turn 2 at Thunderhill or turn 6 at Sears Point. Certainly in racing you can't drive that type of corner like it has an apex because someone will pass you.

You can drive it without worrying about an apex but there is one. There is also room on most cloverleafs to either have the car down low or up high. By keeping it higher you will be able to bring the car down on exit and unwind sooner.

technically, there is no apex in a constant-radius turn. but you can DEFINITELY apex these corners - diamond it like an oval, late apex for faster exit, early apex if you're hauling butt off of a straight, whatever. but you can definitely "apex" any corner. there may be no geometric apex, but i guarantee you that you can miss your apex...

I will rely on my source rather than you. With a SCCA Comp license, 30 years experience, and owning a race car company I think my info is pretty accurate. Maybe the cloverleafs are different in Cali, but around here you would be a fool to attemp to apex a cloverleaf.

Ever watched an F1 car in a constant radius turn? No apexing there....

ummm... actually, those babies go shoulder to shoulder... errr, curb to curb. i'm thinking of the Nurburgring GP circuit: it has some insanely fast constant-radius sweepers, and those f1 cars definitely apex those corners - there is a definite racing line.
imola also comes to mind.

well, back to the clovers... are ya'll's clovers lined with concrete barriers or armco? in houston, our clovers are very, very wide, and most are even two lanes wide. there aren't any rails, not even a curb.
with room to spare and no barriers to get in the way, apexing the clovers is very possible.

btw, i'm talking about the clovers for overpasses, not on-ramps or off-ramps...
