Cornering contests?
I've never seen an F1 car apex a 180 degree+ turn, and clovers are 270 degrees.
Quick example for you: Suzuka circuit, Spoon Curve. It fits the description of a 180 degree plus turn. Almost every single driver on the circuit, F1 or not will double apex this turn.
F1 is also very unique in that they are often setting the car up for the next corner or even beyond. They will give up maximum exit at one place to get it where it really counts. They don't use the traditional apex on a lot of corners where any clubracer would be apexing. As for holding an SCCA license, I can get one in a couple of weekends if I want to. I have also sat down after a day at the track and listened to 5 different licensed racers argue about the best way to take a corner.
Turn 2 at Laguna is a good example, the CART guys definitely double apex it and kiss the curbing on entry and exit. That is because those cars turn on a dime. You can't really do that on a cloverleaf because it isn't wide enough but you can come in pretty fast, let some speed scrub off the first 3rd of the corner, apply a steady throttle, hold it to the outside and then pinch down on to a late apex on exit while squeezing the throttle and unwinding.
P.S. Everything is different in California.

E34M5, were you talking about the onramp to I386 east right before the Squirrel Hill tunnel, heading towards Monroeville? Yeah, that stop sign at the end of the ramp is pretty... welll, stupid. One of the worst designed highway junctions in the country if you ask me.
At least I moved to Germany where that stuff doesn't exist.
