The blackwing is the most beloved intake in the LS1 world as far as most Vette owners are concerned, I picked up an honest 18rwhp backed up by two different dyno's ( Dynojet and a Mustang). add an Exhaust and Granatelli Maf and I'm at an honest 341rwhp and 356rwtq.
It is quite pleasant to find someone that actually knows what they are talking about when it comes to this issue.

Aquaman, YES the Blackwing intake is the most beloved when it comes to VETTE owners but you can't assume it is the same for all LS1's. There have been many independent flow tests peformed on all types of dynos which have consistantly showed with LS1 F-BODY'S that the Blackwing Lid designed for them is not as efficient as other options available. The Direct-Flo lid, as well as the MTI lid, have both been shown to outflow the Blackwing.

As far as the GM not rating it at 345 part of my post. The "it" I was referring to was the Camaro SS. The 345 package, which you sound as if you may already know, is only offered by SLP and all it gets you is a little better exhaust option over the stock SS exhaust and also one of the Blackwing intake lids. The option is NOWHERE near worth the $1,000 SLP charges for it and in no way causes any F-BODY equipped with that package to put down 345HP. That was my only point in replying.

That is VERY interesting to hear you story about the loss to the S2K. Very admirable as well for admitting it. Most wouldn't.

I'm not going to get into all the specifics but I lost from a stop and a roll. there were some variables but I still lost ( traction is not overrated ) normaly that wont happen I've yet to run into an S2K that could "honestly" hang with me, but it was his day. Sometimes even good drivers do stupid things.
Nothing but respect to you man! Admiting you got beat by an S2K, under ANY circumstances, when you got a car that is considerably faster...only gets

606 - I will agree with you on that the SLP option is not the greatest value, but it does give someone who is interested in slightly more performance what they are looking for without them having to buy the stuff and then have it put on by someone. Not to mention that "factory" (as delivered by a dealer) hot rods are generally more desireable cars years down the road. It's not an option box I would have checked off but It was nice to have it offered.

Z06killer - thanks, I street race alot and know that sometimes you win races you probably shouldn't and loose races you should win. I have an Idea where he works/hangs out so I'll go hunting for him again in the future hopefully I can rectify the situation, and make things right in the world

oh and as for the gas mileage question possed by someone earlier I averaged 28.4mpg on a recent trip to Dayton Ohio and back (282miles) with an average trip speed of 83.7, around town I get low 20's and never use the skip shift.

I have found that I get around 31mpg at 100mph on a flat strech of road with the cruise set. Not too bad for a car that runs mid 12's though I expect that to drop with the installation of my new gears

st like some guy here stated that he had beaten a Z06
I could be wrong but I'm the only S2000 owner that I know that has posted beating a Z06 and nobody has 'shut me up'. If you don't think it's possible for a car that weighs in about 2800 lbs. and putting down over 400+ RWHP to beat a car that weighs about 3100 lbs. and putting down about 360-365 RWHP then something is wrong with your math.

and he's just barely trapping at 112
Alex,
My car trapped at 112 mph stock... I should be trapping around 121-122 mph now. I could lazy shift and trap at 112 mph without any problems. On a side note... my car is a little too loud for daily driving so I'm considering going back w/ stock exhaust at least for the headers. I don't know how I'll handle with only 460-470 RWHP... I think it will seem slow.

Derryck, sorry I misquoted you... But lol, your Cobra would scare the shit out of me...

But hmmm... My dad's new car (don't have it yet) will run 12.4/117 stock (so I hear) so... maybe I can get an idea of what you're talking about. But I guess 469 crank hp is too slow for you?

Anything's possble, given enough money... I think the confusion comes from the stock S2000 guy who thinks he can take a Z06.

At any rate- that sounds like a pretty sweet S2k you've got there.

That sounds like a pretty good starting point... I'm sure with some tweaking it wouldn't be too hard to crack 500 RWHP in that baby. My Cobra scares the crap out of me sometimes... sometimes it feels like it just wants to go straight ahead. Other times it seems like straight is the last place it wants to go. I'm still getting use to all of this torque. Having had smaller displacement turbo cars just doesn't prepare for 500+ torque at the wheels.
