Default damn it, i hate misfires

well, on my way home from the driving range with some buds i happen to see a 6.0L GTO just before my exit and decide to continue on and see if he wants to run. we pull up next to him and slow waaaay down and he asks if i want go. i say yes and then he just drops it to 2nd and takes off. we start out at 20 and i play catch up and start to reel him in and then as i am gonna pass him my car starts misfiring again so i let off at about 135-140 with his front bumper at my door. if it wasn't for the misfire i would have pulled at least a couple of car lengths on him.
we pull over at a gas station and he said he was amazed at how fast i reeling him in in the upper gears. he said he had straight pipes and an intake. after we talk for a few minutes we part ways and i just happen to need gas so i move my car to the pump, go inside to pay and as i am walking back out to my car i hear a loud bang! it was a truck ramming a bmw. i was like holy shit! the truck actually decided to make a dash for it and the car went after the truck. they stopped a few feet down the road. the truck wasn't actually running. he was just pulling out of the way. everyone was ok and the cops came so we gave our account and left. it was quite a crazy night. i finallly got my race and saw a crazy accident. the bmw was crushed all the way to the rear axle yet it still moved. it was good people were ok. but damn it was nuts! well thats all. late

Wow that is crazy about the truck. So what happens when your car missfires? Does your car lunge forward or does the engine shut down? Does it happen all the time or just when your in high rpms?

it only happens when i am in vtec around 6500 on up. it doesn't lunge at all it just feels like i am hitting the rev limiter. there is another thread in the forced induction section and i have figured out that is was an overboosting issue and the car not being tuned for that level.

you might want to change the gas brand that your using. that happened to me a couple times exactly the same about 6500 rpms. so i decided to run the car easy till the little gas light turns on, then i went to a shell gas station and filled about qaurter tank . ran the car easy again till the gas light turned on then filled up half way with shell again. gunned it and vuala no more misfires.

try might just work. try to stick to shell, bp, or chevron.

worked for me might just work for you.

i have thought it might be a gas problem and since i have been filling with BP only and its been working great. well, i turned the boost back down that seems to have helped to. i am almost 100% sure it was because the boost was to high at night when it was colder then the day time
