so now this dsm wants to race me, and of course im not gona back out

he's one of my female friend's boyfriend. he just got a 1990 eagle talon tsi awd. in stock form i would stomp on his car all day long but he bought it with a 3" turbo back exhaust and a 16G turbo on it. i believe everything else is stock and hes at stock boost. which i duno exactly it is.

anyway. whether or not you think the outcome is, we're gona race sometime soon. what do you guys think tho? personally i think it'll be close.

 

He'll probably take the lead from a dead stop (awd), but depending how far you go you may be able to real him in.

 

if he's got any sort of tuning on that 16g he will probably stomp you from a stop and stomp you from a roll.

 

16G is not the greatest turbo in the world, only a small step up from the stock 14G. If he is running the same amount of boost, which factory is around 12-14 psi, he will be around the same power, but have a bit more lag. The 3" exhuast will net him around 10-20 hp though. From a roll expect to lose a car or two, but you will have him by 100 or so, from a roll you'll own.

TSI 195hp @ 3095lbs
S2000 240hp @2800lbs

 

If he puts in race gas and turns up the boost you will probably loose (does he have mbc or ebc?).

 

A freemodded 1G DSM with exhaust will be a decent race from a roll if you go from above 6k rpm. Add some tuning and a boost controller and it's not much of a race.

A friend of mine ran a 13.6 @ 100mph with freemods and a magnaflow muffler on stock pipes.

 

Your ganna pull him hard even with his mods. From a stop it's ganna be clkose, but don't worry he isn't ganna jump more then one car ahead(if even that). You'll be passing him by the top of second, and walk him after that. I like those cars, but those mods are not going to give him that much to beat you.

 

um if it's a big 16g then it's a huge step up from the 14G it only flows a bit more than 400 cfm and the 16g flows over 600 cfm. So yes he will be making much more power with the same amount of boost.

stock hp figures are out toe door when you start swapping turbos. On my stock 16g im at 400 hp at the crank.

My 2G was an easy mid 12sec car with a B16G, but I had a few more mods and around 300awhp. That was at ~20psi however. At lower boost levels the difference in flow rate between the 16G and 14b is not that spectacular.

Off topic...upgrading from a 14b to 16G when all you have is a 3" exhaust is ignorant. 14b is plenty capable of 12 second timeslips on pump gas.
