E55....
Pulled up next to an E55 today...he saw me and lunged a few times but I was just admiring the car.
Great looking car and man, from 65mph, that thing takes off!!! I finally decided to throw it into 2nd and see if I could hang and I stayed close...he had a car and a 1/2 on me by 110...he got the jump.

I'm actually surprised that you did that well, those things are absolute beasts on the freeway. well over twice the torque of your NSX, 5/3 as much horsepower. also it has a fantastic C/D. Definitely won't hear any stories of people smoking E55's in their Civics and integras....

P.S. I'd choose an NSX any day over just about anything south of 150K, but if i had to have a stablemate there's no other choice but the new E55. but if i had to have only one car the M5 still takes the cake.(i gotta have at least one Manual tranny)

Now i suppose i ought to go about studying for tomorrow's calculus midterm so that i might one day be able to afford the future iterations of said machines...

Well obviously, you know nothing. When I'm driving pop's E55, I'm the one challenging everybody to a race - not the other way around. It's even worse when my dad is behind the wheel. Either he's racing or he's not, but either way, the LOUD pedal always finds its way to the carpet.
But back on topic, I forget what SoFlaNSX is running on his NSX, but it's not stock. Either way, you'd have to be running some decent mods to even keep up with an E55 on the freeway. I pull hard on Z06s, 600s, and Turbos left and right.

But not to get technical, Quick2k, but on a DynoJet the E55 bone-stock put down 440rwhp and 471rwtq. With 15% drivetrain loss (purely an estimation), that comes to something like 515hp and 555lb-ft at the crank. Massively underrated by Mercedes.

i was going by stock numbers, with the 469HP/516Torque. I thought it might be underated, but was not able to confirm this. thanks, just goes to make me even more impressed with the NSX's showing.

I love the new E55, I just can't see how the new M5 will be able to beat it with anything less than 550 hp, not the claimed 500 hp. Given the acceleration figures MBZ is severely underrating the E55 (I hear to keep the SL55 owners happy).

BTW, alexf20c, (I know you know this) usually you use 20% drivetrain loss on an auto, which would kick the new E55's power up to ~550 hp at the crank, based on 440 RWHP. Safely far above anything the competition has out at this time.
