Embarrasing Defeats
havn't lost "badly" in my Evo with bolt-on's yet (i dont know the fast guys never mess with me)
but back when i had my dc2 gsr i got bitch slapped by a prelude...i think he was supercharged cuz of the whine (i didnt know much about cars back then), but on a slight uphill he absolutey RAN away from me. thinking about it now he's probably trapping around 100mph...since my GSR was stock

i have a friend that is always one step ahead of me, he has an evo...
i raced him when i was stock, and he had about 340-350 at the wheels... he put bus lengths on me... with 5 people in the car...
i raced him when i was 370whp and 220ft/lbs of torque comptech S/C w/AC and he was around 390whp and he put about 2-3 cars on me...
i raced him when i was 384whp turbo but with 290ft/lbs torque and he was running meth and supposedly about 400whp and he put about 1-2 cars on me on a run from 2nd to 5th gear...
now he has a fullrace twinscroll gt3076 with gt35 wheel and hotside and will be making about 500-550whp when he is finally tuned... the car untuned goes sideways in 1st and 2nd gear, its crazy!
there is always someone faster...

[QUOTE=chrisjgiuliano,Aug 14 2007, 12:54 PM] I was on my way home from work one night when this guy pulls up to the light I'm sitting at in one of those old Eagle woodgrain AWD Wagons. He starts talking sh*t about 4 cylinders, so I was getting a chubby waiting to blow his ass off the line. Green light and the dude launches like he has dynamite up his ass. Total carnage and utter destruction. I finally catch him at the next light and he's laughing his ass off. I gave him his congrats and he motioned for me to follow him into the parking lot of Dennys. He says, "Don't feel bad, I was on my way to the dragstrip" and pops his hood. Twin Turboed V8 under the hood with 2 BAMF Intercoolers all Jerryrigged under the hood. At least he was nice about it!
I don't know if this counts but...
I was at a stoplight last week and noticed 2 big boys sitting next to me in a mid-90s Mustang Cobra, It looked and sounded stock (who knows). I didn't think much about because I was fiddling with my radio and new IPOD connection when suddenly I hear his engine rev up and his wheels spinning. I wasn't paying attention but apparently he was! About 2 secs later I launched and was about 5-6 cars behind him. By 70MPH I was within 1 car and gaining fast. He turned off and I never had a chance to run with him again. I would have like to though, I wasn't impressed with his launch and I was even more surprised that I caught up to him so easily, then again, he and his passenger were well over 220lbs each. I am about 173lbs, pre-movement, have no spare tire or tools, 8th tank of gas, drop in K&N... Oh, my AC was on.
Anyway, a loss is a loss however I spin it...

I think my most painful loss was about 10 years ago. I had a nitroused and h/c 89 Mustang coupe. This older guy came out one night braggin' about how nobody would beat him in his 700 hp 300 ZX TT. I didn't have any nitrous that night so I didn't even bother, but he raced a couple of friends and beat them.
The next weekend I came out prepared and he was there. I asked him if he wanted to run and cocky as hell, he said "why should I bother, the cars got like 700 hp." I pointed to his 17" tires (man, those were HUGE back in the day) and said, "that's why". I told him I'm making 200 hp less than him but I'm on M/T's. He was like "whatever, I'll pass you by the end of 1st".
Anyways, we go out to the spot and line up. The starter drops his hands and although I launch the hell out of him, I didn't feel the nitrous hit. I shift to 2nd thinking maybe it'd come on but it didn't. I held him off until middle of 3rd gear and he goes right by me, hard.
I get back and he's cocky as hell and I opened my hood to check it out. My throttle body switch had broke for the nitrous. So I wire it together (bypassing the switch but I still had a button) and say, "let's go again" my nitrous didn't come on. He looks at me and says "you mean, that was a motor pass?" and I said yes. He then says "no, we raced and I won, we're done". He wouldn't race me again. Infact, he didn't even come out to that spot anymore.
