Nice runs...IMO streetracing is as much as an adrenalin rush as running or not being caught by the cops. When I say running I mean leaving fast when they show up, not actually evading them.

I have an appointment setup at 3pm this Sunday. Yeah, I still have yet to catch his first name. I guess you could say that his reputation preceeded him.

Well, I got my VAFCII tuned at Stage6 last night. Baseline was 185rwhp and 120rwtq (Dynodynamics dyno.... reads a bit lower than a Dynojet). After the tune, I picked up about 10rwhp from 3600-8600 and +20rwhp at 9200RPM (baseline fell off sharply at 8600...). By far the biggest difference is the gain in torque. I gained +15-20 lb/ft at the wheels from 3500-5300... and VTEC now jumps in at around 5200. Total after the tune was 197.4rhwp (only a pickup of about 10 peak, but gains larger elsewhere in the powerband) and 127rwtq.

Also of note, these numbers are with a set of HEAVY a$$ 18" rims. I realize that the gains are still the same.... but the peak figures should shift a bit with some lighter/smaller rims.

Time to wup some MS3 a$$! I think I should give a good run on the 40-100 roll now...

Great thread. Sounds like a lot of fun, and the fly-by's are a great idea. I'd love to hear my S go by at WOT.

I've never done any street racing but I have done some impromptu 20 rolls on the Mass Turnpike, thanks to the 15 mph FastPass gates. Every once in a while the road ahead is clear and somebody who wants to play is in the next lane.

There's one gate that opens into a fast right hand sweeper that seems made for the S2000. As an added bonus, there's an underpass that bounces the VTEC roar back into the cockpit for a few seconds. (Is there anything better than opening up your S in a tunnel with the top-down?)

My best moment was with an '07 M6. That car was crazy fast, and it made one of the best sounds ever, but he was my bitch coming out of that turn.

I would not bet on it. I had a 2001 S2000 until about 2 months ago. I traded it in on a MS3 and I can tell you first hand that the MS3 is much faster. Specially if you have the mods your friend has. He should easly be pushing 280WHP or so with over 300Torgue with his mods without a tune. The MS3 responds so well to mods that a simple CAI can net you 20whp.

There is a MS3 with MBC running 18PSI, Test Pipe and a hole cut into his airbox that is running 12.7 with slicks.

From a roll the MS3 is a beast specially in 3rd and above. If your friend took his car in for the Voluntary Recall then he will also be pulling closer to readline due to the ECU reflash. I reciently had this done and my car has never ran better and pulls much closer to redline now. No more 5200 RPM gear changes. Also, if your friend knows to disable DSC and TCS, then he will be running full boost in 1st and 2nd as well and you will no longer get the jump on him (providing he can drive).

But then again, this is a road race and anything can go. I miss my S2000, but I'm very pleased with my MS3. They are 2 different cars though. The MS3 has a lot more power on tap and handles almost as good, but the S2000 is just a true sports car.
